Do you hate being brake checked?

Dr Damon:
I agree this sometimes does happen (but these vehicles are not brake checking you, are they?
:

If a car pulls in my space brake lights shining, causing me to stand on my brakes to avoid them, say what you like mate…they’re brake checking me ! :bulb:

Brake checking is often times a worse thing than whatever thing peeved them off.

If you think about the intent behind it, it’s more malicious than speeding, more sinister than tailgating. Brake checking as an act is always 100 percent intended to risk someone’s neck. Solely intended to show danger. Like dry firing a pistol at someone’s head.

More subtle but equally morally dubious in my book is failing to slow down when you can see an overtaking car that is passing you has messed up and is running out of room, or worse still, speeding up to shut them off.

If you brake checked someone, caused a collision resulting in death I’d say morally it would be up there with manslaughter.

It’s a sad reflection on today’s so called professional driver when you see the replies on here and it is no wonder we are more and more despised as the years roll by.
Anyone on here that posts something the average truck driver does not like and knows it’s wrong is called a troll. :unamused:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
no dear, your mistaken…trolls are called trolls mostly because they constantly post pish in an attemtp to troll.
some can do it with a modicum of skill, and others are just so obvious even with their multiple user names.
if your in any doubt as to what that is,then best looking at your multi name previous posts and then wonder as to why others relate you to in the “poor attempt at trolling” bracket.
try harder. :unamused:

that would be the jackets only used for sunday dinners in the 4 seasons before going to walk it off with a stroll down to the marina for a bucket of beer.
you will often find them relaxing on a sunday afternoon on any of the dundalk roundabouts with a cooler box full of beer spotting the ones on the wire heading out on the early boats…kinda like going to eurostar truckfest at assen in july, but tang style…

It did look like the Tang Sunday best  .

most likely the mushroom brigade parked up at ballymac topaz all piled into the 1 unit for a bevvy session before heading out on a sunday evening cruze from dublin.

I know the world is going mad but it amazes me how you hear these stories of drivers about bursting a blood vessel because they have been brake checked.

Now tell me if I am wrong but in most cases that will only happen when a driver is traveling too close to the vehicle in front and
that said driver touches their brakes.

In my book and in the eyes of the law tailgating and traveling too close are not only exceedingly dangerous but a motoring offence.

A driver that keeps a safe distance will not get brake checked, will more likely be less stressed and far less likely to cause a serious accident.

So if you do not want brake checked do not sit too close to the vehicle in front. YOU are the one instigating the problem. :unamused:

Oh do shut up, your alter ego Corji posted some of this brake test/bad driving drivel just the other day.

yes,yes i did and seems i made it all up. but what are you meant to do when youre in the slow lane and glance in yer rear mirror and someones so close to the back of you that you cant see their number plate? you sense theyre an angry nut so where do you go from there? speed up and try to shake them off,the race is on .
actually i think the next time it happens to me i have a new idea - im going to start slowing down very gradually ,no dab of the brakes tho, this should force them to overtake , if it doesnt i will slow to a crawl and take it from there

Would love to know your view on a truck following dangerously close to a vehicle and then crushing the car and its occupants because it could not stop in time?

The fact of the matter is tailgating and other offences will be dealt with in a different way in the next year or two and I cannot wait to hear the excuses then.

Take an advanced (LGV) driving course, a proper one and not a micky mouse one as some of them are.

They get one chance doing it in front of me. Try it again I’m going over the top of them. All recorded on my dashcam and I’ll have no worries handing it over to the authorities to show how much of a clown they were in their final moments.

and heres another one, what dyou do if you see summat wrong with the vehicle up ahead of you. you flash your lights ,to warn them. but uhoh that dont work these days youre inciting road rage in a few seconds its rage full on . or dyou pass them and then brake check them? or put hazaeds on as well ? im talking about summat dangerous like summat hanging down below their vehicle or a wobbling wheel

Good lad…

dieseldog999:
that didnt take long?.

Every reply you have posted to this thread, is in my opinion just “pish” as you describe it, can you not just add to the thread with an actual opinion of the subject of brake checking? I think if the law was changed from the driver who is automatically blamed by hitting someone in the rear, to looking at the circumstances of why he hit the driver in front of him, then more severe penalties issued to anyone caught brake checking, for example as severe as drink driving?

dieseldog999:
well being back on topic, then nobody likes being brake checked.
and if it gets locked, then theres a chance of someone else having the last word apart from ukjoedamon and friends…

Yes back on topic DD. You got the first part right.
Now do you think car drivers which could include new drivers or elderly drivers like to be tailgated?
The answer is NO.

So any lorry driver that blatantly tailgates is putting the fear up some drivers and severly irritating others SO do you think that is as bad or worse than brake checkers?

Oh and have you heard the latest proposals to catch and convict tailgaters and lane hoggers?
Nothing to do with cameras by the way.

Headshot for lane hogging.

Certainly my preference but unfortunately not.
