I know 99% of what I deliver is non essential, but no word from my employer as to what they are planning to do.

Same boat. I’m just going in tomorrow for my scheduled start unless I hear differently. Everywhere I’m delivering to tomorrow is a shop so that’s out the window but I’ll bet I end up being sent anyway “just to have a look and see” or something like that
Of course I’ll be in, fridge jockey. #notallheroeswearcapes.
Did Boris not just say “stay at home” unless it’s essential? Maybe I misheard?
You can travel to work, only if you’re unable to work from home. I don’t think the wife would appreciate me driving the lorry around the house [emoji23]

Its pretty obvious what’s essential and what isn’t, if food especially and other basic living supplies fail all hell will break loose.
well ive been told start at 5 deliver load of pipe to bss tube centre Coventry then to some building site in Leicester.
to me that’s non essential.
place probably be shut.
but ill go and hopefully be shut get turned away sent back to yard and told go home on 80% pay. as we don’t do shop work or anything classed as essential.
and good on boris is all I say. it had to be done.
Well my load is mixed 13 pallets of cement board for B&Q (non essential )
But 2 pallets of connection boxes for Kcom hull so essential as telecommunications
Supposed to have back load of timber but if B&Q refuse
Goodness knows

Pretty sure going out to drive to work (and back home) is essential (unless you figure out a way to link your truck to EuroTruckSimulator and drive it that way from home)
He meant for ppl to stop screwing around treating it like an extended bank holiday instead of a national emergency

I think it more depends on what you do when you get to work that is the important bit.

Tis the problem with labelling all Transport as key…

So if you work in a, say…car repair or an electronic goods store/warehouse you’re going to phone your boss tomorrow and say ‘Sry boss, mr Johnson told me to stay home, I don’t think my job is that important or essential to society right now’ - good luck

Exactly.
As I said, it’s the problem with labelling us all as key workers. Companies use that as an excuse to keep going. I’ve been on here often enough over the last few days taking the Micky out of my “essential” deliveries and most of us know its not really essential.
What about building sites. No mention if those closing?

Those types of places will be closed tomorrow so it would be you getting the call, not the boss.

I’d like to congratulate you on your acute awareness of social distancing this morning biggriffin, I noticed that you distanced yourself away from me until the coffee machine was nowhere near us!

Ok, you’re right.
My main work is construction stuff for farms, it would be interesting to hear the firm’s take on it if I said ‘Not coming in until further notice, as my work ain’t essential’'.
Believe me if I was that way out on the day I would.
Not having a go at you Jakey (for a change ) it’s a genuine point.
My instincts and judgement tells me to do so, but I more than likely won’t, both for financial reasons and the fact that some teararse eager to please the boss superstar (of whom we have many at my place, ) would totally ■■■■ up my job for me in the future.
Assuming I survive the Corona Curse.
