As someone who passed their test in 1980 I have C1 already on my licence.
Last month I passed my cat C.
The reason being that I need to drive a horse lorry and it would be classed as ‘for hire and reward’.
Am I correct in having read all the threads that because I have had my C1 category for a long time I have ‘acquired rights’ and don’t need to take the CPC test but do need to take the 35 hours training before April 2014?
Bear with me if this has been asked before, I have done a search but just wanted to be certain as I have had conflicting views including from the people who trained me for the Cat C test.
Many thanks in advance.
Brian
If you had cat C1 on your licence on September 9th 2009 (which presumably you did) you do not have to do the initial CPC, you just have to do 35 hours training by 9th September 2014.
