Diverting round Tewksbury

As you may be aware, Tewksbury has a weight limit through the town which I don’t think you can avoid going via the A38 running parallel to the motorway. I would say going via Gloucester, A417, then M50 back to M5 is the ‘normal’ route.

Is there a better way to box round Tewksbury that people have found efficient? I’m going from Exeter to Willenhall.

Thank you.

there’s a bypass around town if coming south off at j 9 follow to weight limit signs go left at r/b follow signs to other side of town.

Your going Exeter to willenhall…why not stay on m5 all the way unless I’m missing something here?

yes thought the same unless it’s down to night closures…?

It’s a pain when the M5 is shut before or after this junction due to the weight limit I mentioned, either due to an accident or night closures. This has happened a couple of times recently, hence the research/preparation. I do this run every day.

I know the post is a bit vague as it’s speculative, maybe too much so. I don’t want to spend half an hour queuing to get off at J9 and then…?

I’m sorry but I didn’t understand bit about the town bypass.
