Was told a while back that if you’re 15 minutes from taking a mandatory break, then don’t.
Can someone explain why?

I normally have a good sense of direction but I’ll admit it. I’m lost!
So someone said don’t drive in reverse if you are within 15 mins of a break? Sounds like a load of cobblers to me.
Don’t reverse? Why ever not? The tacho has no indication of whether you are going forwards or backwards - it just counts revolutions of the gearbox output shaft.
You are unlikely to be fined for being 15 minutes over. However, you will get fined if you make a habit of it.
Why run to a full 4.5 hour drive in one go?

I think he’s saying if you’re within 15 mins of a break don’t do any reversing. Anyway Top Gear is on.

My mate told me he did 4 hours 37 minutes driving the other day but managed to get it back down to 4 hours 29 minutes by reversing around the yard for 8 minutes.

I couldn’t get back at the end of the day if I didn’t. Been on a bulk muckshift for the last 3 weeks and I’m close to 9 hours driving when I get back to the yard. I don’t want to have a second break, like to go home (hence why my lorry isn’t in Truckfest condition )
