Digifob Problems

I purchased my first Digifob back in 2010 from the FTA and it worked well for nearly 2 years after which it developed a fault and became unusable.
I contacted the FTA about the faulty unit and they replaced it without question despite being outside the one year guarantee period.
Six months later the replacement has developed the same fault.
I once again contacted the FTA and they informed me that the Digifob had been discontinued and a new model would be released in the summer of 2013.
They did send me another Digifob they said they had tested but this also had the same fault as the first two.
Does it come as a surprise that the digifob is being replaced?
Have other members had problems with their digifob’s?

S’cuse what might appear a daft question, but what is a digifob?

Could be weak batteries. They seem to throw hissy fits when the batteries are dying.

Unscrew the back panel and swap them over mate. Shouldn’t have a problem then.

It’s an electronic device that can read and display the information on a digital tacho card.

Ah I see. Thank you kindly. Strange that I’ve never heard of one before.

I am from Tachosys who manufacture the digifob.

The first generation digifob has 2 SR44 watch type batteries that will last around 11 hours. The fault you describe would relate to the batteries being depleted. The batteries can be replaced relatively easily.

The new digifob has Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries which allow you to charge from any PC or laptop. This should be a major improvement to usability of the product over time. The new digifob also has a much bigger screen which can be read in low light conditions and will allow you to backup your driver card to a PC or laptop.

Many thanks
