A digital tachograph works much the same as an analogue tachograph as far as changing the mode is concerned, press the button marked “1” to put it onto rest or other work, you’ll see the symbol change to cross hammers for other work or a bed symbol for break/rest.
The mode will automatically change to driving mode when the vehicle moves and go back to other work when the vehicle stops moving just the same as an analogue tachograph.

One thing you will need to watch is what the tachograph defaults to when you turn off the ignition.
When you turn off the ignition some will go onto “other work” whilst some will default to “break/rest” so be sure to check this when you get the motor and remember to change the mode for breaks or other work when you switch off the ignition.

Here are some links to instructions and below there are links to the digital tachograph simulator which can be downloaded and installed on your computer, or you could try the on-line digital tachograph simulator at the bottom of the post.

Should this information be added to the ‘LGV TRAINING TIPS (Read only)’ thread?

I joined this forum since this last appeared on the front page of threads and I’ve been worried about arriving at a first driving job and making a complete hash of running these machines. This simulator is much easier to understand than the manuals.

Free software of this quality is such an unusual concept that I nearly didn’t even bother to search for it.

No, but I have made it a sticky in the Legal Forum
