Evening everyone.
Hoping i can get to the bottom of our scenario, and looking for some advice.
We work for a small firm , when its quiet or there is no booked in jobs, we start at 10am through til 6pm this gives us our 8 hrs a day, (40wk)
We have been told not to put our digi cards in the machine until a job comes in and we are ready to leave.
This is where i want to know if this is a legal requirement or not, or is our employer just trying to pull a fast one.

Doesn’t matter just as long as you do a manual entry when you get in to cover yourself. But I would still take the time when the card goes in to do your daily checks.
The law states that all of your duties must be officially recorded from the start to the end of your shift
If your company is telling you to do different then they need to be educated fast because if you follow their instructions it will be you in the hot seat
If the company insist on you doing it their way then get it in writing on official company paper
