Digi card in Europe

Ok I have a digi card but the only problem is I haven’t used it because my last 2 jobs were airside driving onto airplanes and shunting buses in a yard .Is it easy and simple to use or will I need to change local time etc .I know this must sound like a stupid question but best to find out .

I’m watching a vosa documetry now it says they’re set to utc time happy days

No you dont need to change the time, what you do need to remember is to change the country code for which ever country you park up in at the end of your shift.

You can change the displayed time to local time if you like. Doing so has no effect on the set time of a digi-tacho, which stays on UTC (GMT to normal people).
You can adjust UTC once a week, by a minute, either way. This is to adjust it to the correct time if it’s a bit out.

Don’t forget, these things record ‘overspeeds’. In the UK, the speed limit is over 90 km, so going at over 90km is not necessarily an offence. In Holland Germany and Italy (and probably other countries as well), the speed limit is 80km. In Holland and Germany the majority of us do 90 for the majority of the time, the police ‘don’t notice’. However their attitude changes if you then record overspeeds. They’ve already let you off with doing 90, but now you’re taking the ■■■■ cos you’re doing more than 90.
Italy used to be quite hot on their speed limit of 80. 85 was ok, but not more than. I dunno how keen they are now.
France and Belgium, the limit is 90 and they are very strict on it.

In France they dont like to see more then 3 overspeeds in any one day on there so keep an eye on that and as been said just make sure you start and end shift in right country in the menu and also if in spain the right region ( copy of regoanl map should be in vehicle handbook)

Simon,i once asked an Italian copper why the trucks sail past me while i am sat on a limiter,he replied that they have “devices” to show the speed of 90 kmh,but the truck is going much faster than that,so a waste of time stopping them.
