Diesel stolen and curtains slashed

Why ■■■■■ the curtain when it’s stuff they didn’t nick, they could have done a small peep hole to see what’s inside the trailer.

The bags were too heavy to cart off and unsellable on the internet or at a car boot sale.

The nearest I ever came to such a problem was when parked for a break with my French wagon in England. I heard a small noise and from the bunk, glanced in the mirror to see a man unscrewing the diesel cap.

He was shocked to see me, goodness knows where he thought I was in the middle of the day, but he recovered himself enough to ask ‘was just wondering if you want to sell some diesel mate?’

I put the lid back on and jumped into the cab, firing up and driving off. He didn’t follow. No problems with curtains, I always had a frigo there.

I stopped on the motorway in Barcelona as the front of the trailer was flapping in the wind, I stood on the catwalk then noticed a pair of legs hanging out the cab window.

He said he was looking for cigarettes, I have no idea where he came from due to the location so suspect someone dropped him in a car to be picked up somewhere else.

Two occasions in Spain about 30+ years ago.Filling up with fuel I felt the cab lurch.Fellow in cab rooting about.I wonder if his injuries have healed after he fell onto the ground and i accidentally trod on him.
In Seville buying an ice cream.Pillion passenger hanging out of my cab.His mate fled.I got him in an arm lock and forced him into back of my fridge van and gave him a run around at minus 30.Kicked him out 50 miles or so down the road.
I don’t tolerate this vermin.

I was parked overnight on the road by Garland Transito’s in Porto, at about 03.00 am I woke up to a bloke who was in the cab, he must have forced the lock, frightened the po@ out of me, a few months later a about 60 workers were walking down the road a few about 15 kilometres from where I had parked and I recognised him, he was wearing the uniform of a big factory.

You may remember when Zona Franca was really run down and not that safe to park up or abandon a lorry as it would have been broken in to, there was a German driver who had his his throat in the showers, it was the gypsy man that killed him over a wallet he stole from the driver.

In Porto another German was killed in his cab as the man that did it thought he was having an affair with his wife.

It turned out that the driver killed was not the man who was having the affair but the relief driver for his lorry.

For the thrill of it is my guess.
These people aren’t like you or I.
They are complete outlaws and consider themselves a part of a different country etc.

I concur TFT.

Zona Franca in Barcelona again.lots of trucks/drivers were attacked by the low lifes who lived in the blocks of flats the other side of the wall.Complaints were made and a meeting was held with the chief of police who shrugged his shoulders and said kill them. The drivers expressed their disbelief and were told another body in the dock is just another body in the dock.No big deal.Shortly after, a German driver was beaten up and his wife raped. Some time later a group of German drivers apprehended the culprit and gave him a severe talking to.They also spread him on the ground and parked the wheels of 2 trucks on his hands then fetched the port police. No come back on them.

I remember that happening.

The only place in Europe I had my cab broken into was in Marseille - quelle surprise! I caught them in flagrante delecto and they scarpered empty-handed.

The only place I had my cab broken into outside EU was in Tangiers, Maghreb. They failed to find my well-hidden goodies but caused no end of inconvenience by busting both door locks.

I had a drop in Marseille and couldn’t wait to get out of that place, the characters walking around had scars on their faces and eyes missing from what I can guess from prison fighting, they looked like hardened criminals, the drivers said don’t park overnight anywhere near Marseille of which I didn’t.

That reminds me of the Greek driver who had an attempted armed hijack of his wagon when he was parked near Fort Dunlop near Birmingham, it was a robbery that went wrong as the driver stabbed them, I think one of the robbers died and his mate was severely injured, it went to court and he was not prosecuted for any offences.

This is going in to Tony Martin territory when he shot dead the traveller after multiple break ins at his remote farmhouse.

One of my mentors had a mate of his paralyzed for life when he was overnighting it in Birmingham. He’d park up somewhere in the city, not far from a boozer. Go to the pub for a few beers and a meal. This area of where he’d park was darkly lit.

Well this one time he did just that and on his return he saw someone messing with his curtain-sider trailer. And before he could do anything someone who’d been lurking nearby as a look-out ■■■■■■■ him on the back of his neck with a blunt instrument. He passed out and on coming too was in the hospital and without the use of his legs!

That’s sad news.

To be fair mate, I’m just back on tramping and I’ve got a lock knife and a baby sledgehammer on me. If my truck gets messed with and there’s any threat whatsoever to myself then I’ll do what it takes to ensure my safety.

That’s how the UK courts should view things, if the situation arises, seeing as the police do ■■■■ all.

My mum used to say to me “Better doing a few years in prison than life in a box, son”

Are baseball bats allowed with a ball, without the ball is it an offensive weapon?

On the continent it’s legal to buy CS gas or pepper spray on the motorway shops and truck stops but in the UK it’s a 5 year bang up time?

I bought a starting pistol with blank rounds from a hunting shop in France, legal and above board, I had several cab break ins when I was asleep in the cab as they forced the lock so I fired a few rounds off and they run off faster than Usain Bolt on steroids.

Years ago when bank and fuel cards were not invented, it was normal for the boss to give running money to fund the return trip abroad, the low life scum knew this for a lot of cash in the cab.

You’re never going to swing a baseball bat in a cab, hence the baby sledge hammer. Another handy tool is these tactical pens you get on Amazon / ebay. You can write timesheet with them but they lethal if you stab someone in the scalp with the pointy end and they not classed as offensive weapon.

I’ve also got one of they extending poles, like the police have but the time you faff about with it, you’re probably already nursing a stab wound or iron bar impact.

Time is of the essence when you’re in a situation mate, trust me.

Amazon sell small cans of aerosol red paint that sticks to an offenders face for 7 days, they are legal to buy and use in an emergency if in a dangerous situation, even a loud ■■■■ alarm can be used if the trailer is getting robbed or some crack head is breaking in to the cab at night.
