Diesel dave locked his page

What was the point Dave, cannot get on the page to read, it times out, getting fed up waiting to load pages, just going to depart for pastures new.

The fact that, despite the multiple threads on the same topic, the page loading problems have not been fixed, clearly indicates that this issue is not a straightforward & simple task. ColinL posted recently to say everyone behind the scenes is well aware of the issues.

The phpBB software TN uses is quite long in the tooth, anyone who was using the internet back in the late 90s and early 2000’s will recognise this.

Update…

After some emails and a Zoom meeting with the forum owners, DVV Media International, in which I pressed for a solution to our inconsistent page loading speeds, they’ve done some monitoring and testing for themselves. This is the reason for the delay in me updating this topic… I was waiting for something concrete to tell you.

The outcome of the monitoring is that they agree that this problem needs addressing. I have this in writing. (Hooray!!)

Going forward… I’ve been in further discussions with DVV by Zoom and email, and I’ve been assured that a proper solution is imminent. I’m told that DVV are in discussions with others (as a non-techy, I’m not a party to those techy-type discussions simply because I don’t understand the players when they speak) and that a proper solution is being worked out. I’m told that the timescale is approx a fortnight from now.

I’ve told you everything that I know so far, so I’m sorry to say that we’ll all have to grin and bear the present situation for a little while longer.

Please understand that we’re all in the same boat, so this slowness also affects all of the Mod/Admin Team’s work that goes on behind the scenes just the same as it affects everybody else.

Rest assured, I’m not taking my eye off this ball, so I will update this topic again when I have something else concrete to tell you.

In the meantime, I’d like to express our thanks for your patience and our apologies for the extremely frustrating inconvenience.

I can only reiterate that the problem from which we all suffer equally IS being fixed.
I await further news/instructions from DVV Media, which I will share as soon as I get it.
