How’d you make your own decals?

I cant answer you all because I see a few of you have posted since I was last on here but can I just say many many thanks to all of you who have posted up model pictures so far. All have been excellent and the latest ones are too.

How’d you make your own decals?
hiya mate, to make decals, i use microsoft publisher 10 on my lappy, i also have coraldraw on another lappy running windows 98 which i did use on my alps printer until the ex binned it!.
with the microsoft programme i use this argos.co.uk/static/Product/p … 418969.htm , its wireless so i dont even have to print it off in the same room. basically you work out what you what, use the fonts for the lettering, use the rulers to measure up the sizes and your decals are ready to print.
now the pain in the ■■■■ bit. you can use either clear or white decal paper. i buy mine from here craftycomputerpaper.co.uk/pr … 8&CatID=15 now if your doing a white or very light colour on your model like the holden lettering on the bedford tank, you can print that off on clear decal sheet. dark colours are a no no as the clear decal will just disapear once applied. so you use white decal paper on the dark colours, if you look at the atkinson decals you can see a white border round the lettering where i have cut it out, i will get round this later by touching up round the decal with the same colour red as the painted cab.
so once thats done and printed, you leave to dry (i leave mine overnight in the boiler cupboard). i then cut round the decal, place them on a white sheet of paper using bluetack and apply 2 coats of clear over them. this is to stop the ink from running when you immerse it in water. leave to dry for 24 hours and apply to model…
i dont know if you have heard about this site mate forum.truckmodelworld.com/ its great for advice, tips and hints. quite a few of the guys on there also post on here and are a great bunch. the magazine is great as well it covers r/c models down through the scales to 1/87th. btw i do not work for said magazine just a huge fan of it…hope this helps mate, any more i can do let me know

Cheers for that, I’ve got a few jumble sale corgi stuff to repaint; A Leyland Super Comet’s been waiting for the Amey Roadstone treatment, and been thinking of buying some lower end Scalextric cars and giving them custom treatment.

Where do you buy them from? I’m looking for a good online retailer that sells more WSI than anything else.

Yes I collect them mainly Corgi modern1:50 scale. I have some for sale at the minute on ebay as I need to make room for the new ones I had for Christmas. I also have a 1:50 scale tekno Ponsonby 113 for sale, not on eay yet but will be soon unless some of you guys fancy it.
