DHL NISA STOKE - what's it like working here?

Hi folks!

Wondering if any of you have experience of working at DHL Nisa Stoke? I’m a new driver. I enjoy my current job but I’m earning £494 net working for 55 hour weeks. I can’t pay for anything. It’s awful. I’m not work shy and just want to work hard and earn more so I’m really keen on the Nisa job as it’s looking I can clear about £800 a week net on the same hours?

I understand you work for it but I’m up for that and tbh I like getting off my bum and doing something to keep me fit. Really like the idea of working 14/15 hour shifts 4 days a week and taking 3 days off too. My partner drives as well so hoping once I’m settled she can come and join me so we can have the same shift pattern - happy days!

I guess what I’m asking is it like what it says on the tin? Sometimes agency’s say a lot of stuff and give you a raw deal in reality so looking for some first hand experience. Lots of posts are a good few years old now, any of you working there recently/currently and have advice?

I had an assessment today but I forgot to check the trailer brake before hooking up so didn’t even get out of the yard, which was a real shame as it was a silly mistake to make. But will be going back in a few weeks and all going well will be able to sign up then.

Cheers

DHL says a lot, I used to work for them when they were not so bad but these days I believe they are much worse to work for.

It was ok on the contract I worked for but slowly got worse, and I believe they also use ai driver facing cameras these days which is a step too far in my opinion.

Take home of nearly 500 quid a week is a decent wage by most people standards, lots of people take home way less than that.

Is there anything you can do to lessen your outgoings?

My take home is usually around 600 to 625 a week for 50 hours max a week over 5 nights though.

And I’m single and just bought my place to live recently and yes costs have gone up a lot over recent years with the cost of living rises but 8 can manage ok.

My cost have gone up considerably from the rent of 475 a month I was paying to 625 for the mortgage and insurance. That’s without all the rest like electric and C tax.

It isn’t easy for many, but it’s down to what you need to live I guess. If you need more money then you have to search for it or find a way to live on what you earn currently.

£494 net for 55 hours is £11.27 an hour but with the 30 min break they don’t pay you for it works out as £11.77 an hour. I’d say driving an HGV for close or under minimum wage isn’t ok. Everyone on site from the labourers, weight bridge staff and even banksmen are on more than that. We’d make more as cashiers. Thanks for your comment. I’m just asking if the job is as described.

Don’t beat yourself up mate, you are not a failure for forgetting the brake as it’s only deferred success, it took me 3 times to pass my artic test, it was the nerves.
As in we are only human and make mistakes.
