DHL Newark (Currys)

Hi guys

I have an interview at DHL Newark(Currys) next week. Any advice/information would be welcome.

What job?

7.5t is delivering stuff to houses and installing it- I hated it both days I was there.

Class 2 is to their shops multi drop but not too bad.

Class 1 I’ve not done yet but is supposed to be a reasonable job.

I’ve noticed their high turn over of drivers, make what you will…

i worked there for seven months.
if you have a class one licence, they will ask you if you have a passport, because you will certainly be going to ireland.
they will offer you a 5 on 3 off shift, but you will owe them 32 shifts, which have to be paid back over the year.
the money is, 24,135 plus night out allowence of 22.
they have just got a 1.5% pay rise as well.

its not a bad job if you dont mind travel on a boat 4 times a week.

now the bad side.

the office staff are very keen on your digi card, and will scrutinise anything and everything.

if you get the job and accept it mate, keep your nose clean, and you will be allright

welcome to TrucknetUK mdooley

When did they start requiring a passport to enter Ireland

I haven’t been to Ireland for many years but you certainly didn’t need a passport for north or south the last time I was in either place.

I have a passport and they know because I included the fact on my CV.

I have driven in France and Germany before but never Ireland.

It should be an interesting experience.

What service do they use?. I assume they use Hollyhead

hi mate.
they ask you at birkenhead docks for your passport for southern ireland.
if you are on store deliveries, you will go out on sunday afternoon to birkenhead to catch the 10.30pm boat.
make sure you get there for about 19.30 and bang it on break, then ferry movement on/off the boat, so you can get your shop deliveries in, and get bak up larne docks in the north for your return back to base on the tuesday.
then you turn and burn.
if you deliver to rdcs, you will go from holyhead to blanchardstown, nr, dublin in the south, or if you are unlucky, you will travel up to cainryan for the midnight sailing from larne, to nutts corner in the north.
both sets of warehouse staff at bonds are superb, and very good lads.
have a good time mate.

ps.
just work it the best way you can, but watch your driving hours, especially on the a75 cairnryan to dumfries, as the police are very keen on catching truckers doing over 43mph.

ask lycanthrope

hes in and out of their all the time

gogzy:

Who me ? :open_mouth: Never! your imagining things again Gogz  :unamused:

Done it on agency, doing depot to depot on night’s with double deckers, you have to handball everthing to the edge of the trailer for the fork lifts to lift of, TVs and a lot of other stuff no problem but when you have to move 40/50 washing machines with the concrete block in its hard work plus reload.

But nice trucks, good money, swings and roundabouts.

i love swings and round abouts
