DFDS Belfast subbie rates

manfrieght was #1 cos slowie worked in the office and daddy owned manfrieght…mvh has a similar interest. palms well greased.if your face dosent fit, then you will def get dung.plus they will fire the non paying work at you to see how long itl take you to throw the head up.hornsby just does local dung where you need to be in 4 places at the same time, with the office dudes on the blower constantly wanting to know how long you will be.these guys sit at the same table, but would never think to ask the dude that just called you whereabouts you are, they just take turns to ask the same stupid questions. they will never take your side in any debate at a tip,as the customer is more important than a subbies bum on the seat.you will notice that a good deal of their work goes round in circles…1 guy does the run for 6 months or so,then realises that it dosent pay,so he gets someone elses work,(which also dosent pay) and so it goes on. when you are paid, then a percentage will be invariably held back for various reasons,so that you are always owed a shortfall, and by the time you have sorted that out, then you will be in time to be paid short again. manfrieght is still in there with the bricks and can run legal as they get the pick of the work to suit them at everyone elses cost.they will pull you back off a ferry if its full to make room for a manfreight that’s arrived after you…any other subbies, well the pressures on…if the loaders cant load you in time for the Birkenhead boat( and if your not 1 of the chosen few then you wont be),then its up for the midnight p&o,and over the top,so there go the cards for that day etc. 1 side works you for deliveries, the other side works you for pickups,if side 1 bolloxes it up,then any delays are from your time off as your always booked to load, and invariably, must make boat…then sit in boucher road for 4 hours .all the vosa, plod, and any other officialdom know well that nfl work cant be done legal, plus as they don’t run trucks, its the subbies that bite the bullet, and your cards are marked for every trip in or out.they will think nothing of calling you up in the middle of your kip asking you to run 30 or 50 miles to give a manfreight driver your splitter fridge etc,as they wouldn’t ask him to run to you. and ultimately they only want the work covered. work all day in Ireland…over the top at night to corby chilled, pull your card, mess about for a few hours tipping, then be over in haydock to leave for 3pm and make the stena evening boat.then work all day around the north again.there generally classed as not exactly the bottom of the barrel for work/rates etc, more like scraping underneath it.work for them, and be a busy poor man.their rates are cut to the knuckle.montys, sawyers,or the mushroom brigade might work you just as hard, bit I believe the pays a tad better.the fact they are looking for subbys speaks for itself.a few years ago an easy trip was, start at 6a.m in langlands, run to boat, tip anywhere from newry to derry ,back across on boat at t time if you made it,or if not the 8pm or 10 pm,head back to langlands, pull card,on a good day about 9pm or midnight ish ,mess about with trailers off card, then start again at 6a.m and do it again…when sainsburys own cabbages tried to do the same run, they had an overnight in Belfast on the way back, and it took them 2 days to do what was normal subby work for 1 day,and that run was a piece of ■■■■ compared to the English dung. I love the cowboy tactics, and constantly run bent as it suits me,but they are just a dung company to sub from…rant over…

Holy F**K lol that was what i call a rant, but cant disagree with any of it

And breath!

How dumb has a “man” :unamused: to be to work and be treated like that? Or is it a case of the Tang wanted a big Scania and now he is a slave to it and the companies. To many Irish drivers are border line retards

thankyou for your words of confirmation there. its nice to have someone confirm that your post is 100% accurate, though rant or not,its the tip of the iceberg for nfl…I still cant get used to calling them dfds…though I still call a snicker bar a marathon.

Do you know what Manfreight’s local day work is like Mr Dog? Money and all the rest of it.

Do you know what Manfreight’s local day work is like Mr Dog? Money and all the rest of it.

I believe the n.i local work pays £70 per day,i may be wrong as I wouldn’t give slowie the steam off my ■■■■,but I know it pays very little, mvh is similar, just wages cut to the bone, hornsbys the same…they are wprking for peanut rates, hence they only way they can save money is to snin the drivers wage. 6 years ago I was getting 90 cash per day for the langlands run, then a dig guy took on the work and paid 80,then it changed again to 70 after I went elsewhere. the load nfl at night, over the top on the 10pm stena to corby chill, tip off card, run across to haydock, load sains in afternoon, and back to drop in Belfast paid £120 the argument being, you were 24 hours start to finish and you got a few hours kip at corby…manfreights day work is now running into the south as well I believe, but the northern work is just dungannon meats, interfrigo, hilton meats, and just still nfl dung, your phone will never stop, and no matter how many times you tell them, when you lift from dungannon meats and they are on the phone every single time, they will always ask you,how long itl take for you to get to Belfast,…every single time, you will constantly be dropping trailers, lifting trailers, filling trailers with diesel, then shipping trailers, running shouth with units to fill with diesel, then shipping units.ive had to wind legs sometimes 15 times a day before, and its not like Tosco where everything works like brand new…the maintenance is pathetic, bent legs,so your busting your bollox for 10 mins in low trying to get them to lift before you can wind the last inch in high, and splitter doors that need a forklift to lift them as theyre bent to bits. all you get is the phone call, the 4 loaders cant lift the splitter,so you will have to go in and lift it for them yourself.if your a jobsworth then you wont last 5 mins.its just tragic normal dung work that pays peanuts.you are only as good as your last job,and hardly worthy of being a bum on their seat.its still nfl no matter what subby you work for, though manfreight and mvh get the cream, your just a bum on a seat and I guarantee you, that you will just want to be slapping slowies eyes out of his head once he starts talking to you in his superior condescending manner. its a job if you need a job,but that’s about it.take your wet gear as youl be in and out of the cab 100 times a day…anything else, feel free to ask

Who are you working for now dieseldog

loose lips, sink ships…if it would definitely be the Birkenhead boat that sank,id tell you in 2 secs…

morgan mclernon is suppose be paying best subbie rates these days alot ex northfolk line is pulling for them now.

Though at minate there paying best wages for working for them as in company,
Why would you want drive for likes MVH For 170 to stone sainburys or likes of slowly for manfreight to london from cairnryan for 200 a trip when you get 250 from morgans a trip and out through holyhead in new lorries.

when we subbied for dfds it was per mile and there is not a hope in hells chance that we could have paid someone 50p a mile and made anything profit wise so i am guessing the pence per mile rates has significantly increased?

have to admit it was pretty good work compared to P&O etc.

theres a good chance with slowies mob you might keep your cards right, though the pay is pathetic… with the other 2 your not likely to unless you want to earn peanuts,as itl be trip money, here comes winter, ferrys off, your prob, roads closed, your prob, any delay whatsoever no matter what incompetent traffic controller ballses things up,your prob, load rejected and you need to travel 120 miles to retip before you go back for the backload, your prob…I e it all stops at you,and your dosh is cut to death.

MorganMc AFAIA are paying £250trip because they go out on the early boats
(Check out Silverwood yard@ about 5/6pm, chaos :exclamation: :exclamation: :open_mouth: )

Unless you’ve got two diff reg numbers the UK nationwide ANPR cameras are going to catch you out eventually,
Cowboy/Tang running not worth it in the long run and WILL come to an end :exclamation: :exclamation:

If you happen to have a bad accident and they spot something “fishy” on truck/card and check back on those cameras you’ll regret the cowboy running.
