Removalboy,i seem to remember a Dodge Commando with your name on it and a DAF (possibly the one in the photo) flatbed, pulling a curtainsider trailer?
Mid 90’s.
Why a flat and a curtainsider matched together?
NZ JAMIE:
G’day mate,
I remember Reg Saunders,he drove the artic and also Derek who ran the show. Also Ally Moon, rip, who drove a Merc,Grayham Pike,or ‘■■■■■’. Robin someone?
Ring any bells?

Evening all,
Here are few of my Uncle, Martin Stone’s photos from when he was driving for my Dad, R.G.S Stone from Fenny Bridges near Honiton:
This was my Uncle’s pride & joy when he finished at Stuart’s & came on for my Dad - AEC Marshall 6x4
This was our only Volvo - F86 8x4 loading sand at ECC Rockbeare Quarry
A better shot of the Volvo, they were turning it into a Float for Honiton Carnival
This was taken shortly after we had our last brand new lorry - F plate Leyland Constructor 6x4
Hope you like them, Andrew Stone

Rick is well and retired, his son does all the driving now.
Whatever happened to ‘Torbay Freight Services’ ?
Are they still going?
Always looked smart and they had a D reg Scania 112 six wheeler that would give anything a good run for its money.
Suedehead:
Now then, can anybody identify the location of the pic with the Axminster Scania + Volvo parked together ? Reason i ask is because on a thread a while back - something to do with Radclive of Faringdon i think ,it was asked where the pic was taken but ime buggered if i can remember what the answer was and judging by the tower block in the background it looks like the same place.Didnt they become Chard and Axminster tpt ? CATS
By the way, isnt Axminster in Zummerzet
the pictureis of milbay docks in plymouth both trucks are waiting for the ferry crossing to france
Suedehead:
Does anybody remember a haulier called Weslakes , from nr Plymouth. Reason i ask is the firm i worked for at the time used to get backloads via them but i only went to thier yard once(early 80s) . Even then it was like stepping back into time.
hi yes i used to drive thier daf for them thier yard was just outside plymouth

A fantastic looking piece of kit this! Presumably it copes with the lanes & the banks okay - what size lump does she have in there?
Another school-boy question, how do you go about tipping the wagon with one of these - un-hitch the trailer our can it be jack-knifed?
I see from the Volvo picture thread that you used to drive for George Bedford, has he finished altogether now? I heard he kept one lorryback & was driving it himself? My dad (RGS Stone, Fenny Bridges) used to do a fair bit for George back in the early 80s.
All the best, Andrew Stone.
No worked for george bedford , georges haulage then moved away to stoke and worked for ed weetman then came on with chris about a year and a half ago when i moved back, heres a few more trucks ive drove for devon companies over the years

She has a 420 in her and is very good around the lanes not that much cut in with the trl, if i got the room it can be jack knifed around and tipped over the drawbar have only been in a couple of spots where i have had to drop the trl,
George has stopped now sold his last truck last year, cheers ian
