Hi John. All good! Moved back north. Did other stuff in motor trade then went back driving.
Part time these days, 3 a week. Home every night though.
Cant imagine a tramper these days preparing for a night out in Bristol or Brum etc packing some nice pants and a couple of drnking shirts! Hardly needed in a ■■■■■■ layby!
Was working with Kieth Atkinson a yr ago at Magnet.
How are you bud?
just read in the local paper of the death of brian naylor
does anyone know if it is the one that ran the traffic office
alan
I will find out if I go to the Crem on Wednesday.
Bill
Hi Alan.
Yes it is Brian who ran the transport office, Dad told me on Friday.
Darren.
thanks darren
how is dad, ok i hope
alan
Went to Brian Naylor’s Funeral today, Big turnout, lots of people standing. Didn’t recognize any one there except the minister who took the service. As is usual at Funerals now, the Woman sitting in front of me got a call on her Mobile. No mention of a buffet, pity, I do enjoy a good Buffet.
Old Bill
He’s alright thanks Alan. I’ll tell him you were asking after him.
Darren.
bill, looking at that photo you sent me, a good buffet is the last thing you need
i am surprised you knew no one, and if they were standing he was better liked than most thought
Alan, There is nothing wrong with a good buffet now and again! I did learn a few interesting things that we never knew about him, all good. Tell you later.
Bill
ANYONE STILL ALIVE OUT THERE ■■?.
DGR962 was Dents first new Atki, There were 4 of them, bought from Theater garage at Sunderland.
The story goes that before it was weighed off the second steer was removed, the fuel gauge was wedged on full when the tank was empty, most of the wheel nuts removed and the covers put back, etc. then they kept changing the no. plates 4 times. This was because the A licence was based on unlayden weight. It’s name board and sheet rack are missing in the picture.
This is 499GPT the last of the 8wheelers,Fredie Turner got it new. It was the first motor to come with Michelin X tyres on, (everyone kept telling him hls tyres were soft). Dickie Smith turned it over, when it came out from the coachworks the cab roof was painted white, after that they were all painted white (except the ones painted cream they had a red roof).
Ken.
Is anyone going to sharpen their lndex fingers ■■?
Don’t know any of you young uns’ here but a most interesting thread
Thank you
Nice to know that you are still around Kenny, You seem to have more memories than all the rest of us put together.
I will have to think of something interesting to post.

Hi Bill, it’s good to know I am not the only one left, hope you are keeping well.
I think this is 685MPT, it came in 1962, Gordon Davis got it new. The Crane trailer came new in 1965, with the 1418 Merc. Martin Dawson was
involved in a fatel with this outfit. The trailer was ok but the unit was wrote off. Ken
Hi Kenny, I had 684 MPT for a while. It was a good motor considering what was around at the time,(apart from the F86’s) and it never let me down. Those were happy days. I know that we all had a moan now and then, But looking back, we had some good times and plenty of laughs among all the drivers. Today’s Drivers would not do what we had to do, Health and Safety stopped all of that. Never mind, keep posting.
Old Bill
Health & Safety Bill? I do a job to SCA Flint every night with loose pulp on pallets & when we are tipped I can`t get on the Tailer to sweep it off UNBELIEVABLE. It gets worse every week.
i bet john henry would have liked to have had the same rules and regs as these fellows, just put as much as you like on and hope it stays afloat
Hi Greek, How do you sweep the trailer if you are not allowed to get on it? Does the wind blow it away?
Bill
This is 907CUP, Des Mitchel got it new. When he went for his first load home from Birds ( in Bradford St. Birmingham at the time ) the van was about a foot to high to get in, so it had to go back to the coachworks to get lower
Ken
Hi Greek,
See the health and safety ■■■■’s are alive and kicking!!!
Can anyone remember when Mickey Toth was sheeting up waste paper in Charlton and fell off the top and fractured he’s ankle. Rather than go to hospital he finished sheeting and roping up before driving back to Tudhoe.
Darren.
