Ok not truck related but Uber just eat drivers etc are going on strike today… apparently they want £5 a delivery not bad if they ever get it.
£5 just to deliver a takeaway in your car a couple of miles at most. Usually take more than one at a time anyway
And if it extends to McDonald’s one near me there’s always a que of kids on pedal bikes waiting for orders to come through
“Strike” Is not strictly accurate as they are not (normally) employees. They are mostly self employed in the gig economy.
A Just Eat spokesperson said:
“Our data shows that couriers delivering for Just Eat earn, on average, significantly over both the London and national living wage for the time they are on an order.”
So over all their time are they under the Min wage?
I guess most truck drivers will be on £30/£40 or more per hour when they are driving. Some will be on hundreds per hour if you only count their time driving to deliveries.
