Delivering to hospitals

I currently deliver chemicals to hospitals as part of my round. With the exception of one hospital I spend half my time arguing with the goods in people that yes it is addressed to the goods in at that hospital and yes they are goods in. the other half is spent running round the hospital trying to find departments and someone that’s capable of understanding plain English and will take the bloody thing.

Makes me wonder if there is a shortage of ppe for hospitals etc or is it just a case of some lazy prat that cant be bothered to do the job he is payed to do because he is used to sitting on his back side with his trousers round his ankles watching ■■■■ not doing his job and taking the stuff.

what are other peoples experiences?

Occasionally do a van run around the hospitals, and like you will actually have several drops within a particular hospital.
Just a matter of getting used to the run tbh.
Once familiar you’ll fly round.

Not done one since the virus broke, though

Stick to your guns when you say I am delivering to Goods In and no where else and that you are keeping your movements to a minimum to avoid any possible infection to others in the Hospital

You do make me…

Smile coop. Your job is to drive and deliver goods from your depot to the place named on the parcel/box/crate/pallet/bag of drugs/Faberge egg. That’s all you do. Don’t start running all over the customers premises looking for Dr Jones, Mrs Makeson, Great Uncle Bulgaria or Groucho Marx that’s not your job. Your job is to get to goods in/a front door/security hut and offer the aforementioned goods for acceptance. The receipt for your labours is the signed delivery note that states you went there and delivered something. As soon as someone starts ordering you up and down five flights of stairs on a wild goose chase, politely but firmly say ‘if you don’t want the ■■■■ thing, I’ll take it back’. Take a picture of the guy/gal that refused delivery and get back in yer motor.

Some of my stuff has to go to certain departments within the hospital, aswell as goods in.
You’ll also get independent chemists dotted around the place.
Goods in will seldom take their stuff.

Time to get the sack barrow out.

As an example.

For Bradford royal…I’ll do 2xstores,2xchemists,1 pharmacy stores and the blood bank.

I used to multi drop round hospitals back in the day.
90% of goods in will refuse to take them unless they are actually addressed to goods in/main stores.
If it has anyone’s name or department on the label then you have no chance generally.
Used to spend half the day walking corridors and seeking out departments.
It was quite a good round to be fair but wouldn’t fancy it at the minute.

this is my point. with a few boxes its feasible to put them on a sack barrow and go hunting (if you have the time) however if you have 3 pallets worth and have to walk 1/2 mile because the only place you can park is the wrong side of the hospital I can see things not getting delivered.

Suppose that’s the ppe that they need? is it any wonder there is a shortage.

Yesterday I had one of my jaunts around a hospital to deliver a box. On the way out 2 staff in scrubs got in the lift with me. I heard one of them say oh I hope there is some gel. On getting to the ground floor they both shouldered their way out of the lift and dashed off for the front entrance. When I got to the entrance there must of been 40 of them all stood around looking up and down the street. As I walked out there was a staff nurse (someone in a different uniform anyway) said oh there is a lorry down there maybe its that one and they all went sprinting off after it.

This said I doubt they all changed their uniforms when they got back to their area’s not to mention all the extra infection risk due to the current circumstance. surly one person sitting in an office talking all deliveries with a small team of people working behind the sceens taking the stuff around the hospital would be a far better bet

Yeah,I wouldn’t be ■■■■■■■ 3 pallets worth around.
Do occaisonally take a rigid, but that’ll just be to general stores.

Best way to deal with it:
