A good few did.
When I got pictures of that green foden, the bloke told me it’s got 900k’s on it and it’s still on it’s first clutch So there must be some that are bullet proof and some that have been shot to pieces out the production line ready
I still remember my dads ERF E14 from when I was a little kid, that had a 320 gardner I think it was a gardner engine, that pulled like a train and sounded the part too It was the truck that got me hooked into the haulage industry
Cheers,
Jonny
Keep them, coming Jonny,great pics.
Cheers Dave.
Be sure to look on my thread on my final project, plenty of fodens and a couple Erfs too Even my old dad was impressed when he saw them, and he doesn’t usually look twice at truck pictures so they must be interesting!! I’m going to Ackworth this year for the vintage truck show so hopefully I should have some more pictures up
Nice pics Jonny! Those were the kind of trucks I used to climb over as a kid. What can you tell me about 593ERF? That’s a cab I haven’t seen before. So handsome those older trucks, the later Fodens got a big lick of the ugly stick IMHO!

Now, from what I can remember the owner telling me as I didn’t get much information on this one as the owner was more telling me about the CTD 69 Foden.
From what I was told this foden was made in 1958 (Not entirely sure) and has a gardner engine, The information I have on this is very vivid but I will be going back to see the owner again shortly in a few weeks as all three trucks are getting ready for the Bridlington run so I can’t miss that opportunity as he said I could go back and get some pictures so I shall get some more information on it and let you know as soon as I do!!!

The Foden (593 ERF) was what was called the FE Series. They were usually fitted with a Foden FD4 4 cylinder 2 stroke engine of 2.72 litres and (possibly) a 4 speed g/box with an electric shift, the larger FD6 of 4.1 litres was also available. They had a flat cab floor, the engine was set back, so the driver could access the cab from either side. I guess that they would have been rated for a 8 ton payload, they were very light, a short wheelbase tipper was also produced.
The cab was made by Bower Brothers (BOALLOY) of Congleton, the range was introduced around 1953.
