P.S: And sorry, the last photo isn’t a Foden, but it’s specially for C10 HOO.
Hello!
Is that the last of Britannia’s so heavy and powerful Foden? It is as when AB Volvo laid White truck on the massacre bench. White as Volvo could have made a dump truck of. White as was so renowned. It had so fin history and Foden have we had I Sweden 50-60 year back and sure Foden have an interesting history. I think if AB Volvo had bought that renowned brand but Volvo won’t have a concurrent. They have already preferred Hino. I’m sorry Guys I feel for the British makes because I have got more knowledge and have understand little more but have a lot to learn.

Yes, it was a BOC motor 680 PP. & the 12 sp. Foden box 52 mph. with a gear for every hill of course, I used to haul spratts up to Frazerburgh when in season never let me down once, It had a Kiazor Shutter on which was a bonus in the winter. It could hold its own with anything in those good days. Regards Larry
Hello Mr Dunbar, just wondering where you bought MET 547G from, BOC’s policy has always been to cannibalise and scrap so survivors are rare. When the batch of Leyland engined S39’s came to Teesport I was an apprentice diesel fitter for Milburns in Middlesbrough, anyway the boss did’nt believe such a machine existed until one day I was out on a breakdown with him in his Land Rover, we were following one of our ERF 8 leggers which had lost its N/S 2nd steer wheel and drum, (never found) at about 15 mph when one of the BOC Fodens came up behind us, when the road was clear the driver (Mick Smith) hoofed it past us both, the boss had the window open and the unmistakeable sound of a 680 on song came blasting through the window, I think it was the only time he ever apologised to me!! Regards, Mizzo.
Well its A S 36. I bought it from a bloke called Jimmy Monte, at Fence Houses, he was a breaker but sold some decent stuff like the Fodens, I got one & Deighton Bros, Gateshead got one , I inclined to think they came from BOC,at Birtley ?., there was 3 alltogether but I dont know where the other one went.

Well done sir, you spotted my deliberate mistake!! we used to go to Monte’s for parts when I was an apprentice, I have a photo of a Teesport motor somewhere, I don’t think they had ‘ET’ registrations, I think ET was a Rotherham reg, BOC had a big regional office at Brinsworth if I remember correctly, and a lot of the vehicles were registered there. Regards, Mizzo.

This is one of the Teesport Fodens with a Leyland 680, it is being driven by a great bloke (Mick Smith) at an LDOY competition which was held at Terrys, York in the early 70’s, I am at the rear of the truck with my best mate, (huge afro) and my old fella. I’m the one with lady hair!
Hello

Or I wouldnt mind getting back behind the wheel of the Mickey Mouse S 21, just for old times sake, I dont think any of the youngens today could master the old Foden 12 sp Box, I allways found it a great motor to drive, It started its working life for Lewis Bros Ltd Quarry owners in Cheshire, Regards Larry

Hello Jonny, I’ve only been at P of P about 2months this time, I worked for them for most of 1978 but got the opportunity to drive a fuel tanker, (twice the money and home every night, a no-brainer as they say) I’ve worked out of Potto and Stockton doing curtains, steel and Pallex. Regards, Mizzo.
Ready for retirement i think

After re-reading Peter Davies excellent book on the history of Foden, I realise my mistake, S39’s came a bit later, the cab was very similar but taller with a split screen. Should get me facts right before posting owt eh!!
