Quite a funny thread this one. Whilst i would agree with the general concencous that Mike is daft for considering doing this, fortunateley we don’t have any laws governing what we do with our own free time when we are off work, thank god.

Where a driver accompanies a vehicle which is transported by ferry or train, and takes a regular daily rest
period, that period may be interrupted not more than twice by other activities not exceeding one hour in total.
During that regular daily rest period the driver shall have access to a bunk or couchette.Any time spent travelling to a location to take charge of a vehicle falling within the scope of this Regulation,
or to return from that location, when the vehicle is neither at the driver’s home nor at the employer’s operational
centre where the driver is normally based, shall not be counted as a rest or break unless the driver is on a ferry
or train and has access to a bunk or couchette.Maybe the law makers did not add “sleeping in a car” because they did not think anyone was so elfin stupid
Appart from the fact its nothing at all to do with VOSA what he does with his own free time, this act or rule is totally irrelevant. It ranks along with the “its illegal to disturb a driver on his rest period…police put cones out” palaver. I tried to get the Prudential man arrested for knocking on my door one night and disturbing me, i had no luck suprisingly enough !!

I’d stay away from Waitrose and Tesco’s drivers out of Milton Keynes then, i know of about 10 drivers that do it week in week out they park in the staff car park, but that’s not an option here
It was also this post that I think VOSA should be interested in too. Because other people read these posts too, maybe someone will pay Waitrose and Tesco a visit, although Im sure Stobart will let you sleep in a truck
