Can’t seem to find the original now so i’ll start another

maybe my lot will be able to pick off a little of this work to make things a bit easier for us…when the food distribution game starts feeling the pinch, then times really are that hard. If things carry on the way they are going, the whole country will be on benefits in 20 years!!
Yes i posted the original, seem to have been removed for some reason.
we are going no doubt about it, will almost certainly be this week, last week of tax year! Unless a buyer turns up in next couple of days, but we have nothing left to offer anyone all contracts gone or going this week.
All our depots now are almost empty, not much left, customers sending in trucks to clear out stock before gates get locked i guess, by tuesday i’ll be trunking fresh air!!
15 depots nationwide & over 1500 staff, what a shame, been good times…

just a thought but if another company takes them over with the olympics this year the extra depot space would help with distribution surely
Some of the comments on that article give the impression that poor service is a primary reason for losing market share. In the food industry you can’t afford to do that as Tesco have recently found out to their considerable cost.
Same thing happens in our trade; for Brakes and 3663 read Stobarts and Nobby D.

Waste of time, Culina told me on the phone a week before that it was Sun / Thurs nights or Mon/Fri days, so drove 30 miles for a 8 am interview to arrive and sit down in interview to be told it was a 5/3 shift that was available. Guy said there were no other shifts available. So told them i wasnt impressed driving a 60 mile round trip for a job that didnt exist!!
Anyway, been offered a postion on Royal Mail in Chelmsford via agency £11.75 P/hr then £14.75 p/hr after 12 weeks, also had a couple of other interviews that look promising, one with local Farmer driving an 8 legger curtainsider with moffet delivering Horse feed & bedding on days for 28k. So future not looking that bad, fingers crossed

Hi J, no one will want to purchase us as we have nothing to offer anyone , all customers have gone apart from a few small ones, only one worth having is MOD, and that is getting smaller and up for renewal next year anyway, Brakes are after that but dont want anything else, talk has been Bookers new food business, but again we have no big contracts now so not worth buying, also some of our depots are only leased, so again not woth having.
Was nice while it lasted, hope everything ok with you now heard you got your Class 1 now. All the best R
I deliver to DBC in Brum and Thatcham usually, but have heard they are on stop by some of their suppliers. Not had any DBC work for weeks now. I thought the food service industry was set for a mini boom this year. At least that is what I was told by a collegue who reads a better class of newspaper told me earlier this year.

ahh didnt realise depots were leased , I think there is a bookers near here massive depot compared to our 5 bays so doubt they would want that,

I have two days agency next week mon and thurs at DBC Thatcham but to be honest may still do Mon but apparently having meetings there Wed so Thurs may be canc yet ,
I think the main thing is people working there are upset as havent been told anything just dont worry business as usual but after last couple of weeks I think they all know writing on wall just hoping for a last minute rescue who knows
