I wonder if you still have to mess about like this these days? Suspension jacked up and still nearly ripping the spare wheel carrier off.

Gary The Fitter:
Hi Mappo
Was talking about the old days like you do…Sunday night Portsmouth to le Harvre, he said the best boat was the afternoon one.
how;s your brother?

Hi Gary, the Sun. afternoon Normandy Ferries was the Dragon manned
with the english crew whereas the night crossing was the Leopard with
the french crew.
In those days most of the drivers knew each other and it was a good crack
Bet it ,s not the same these days.
My Brother,s fine mate thanks, he,s just got back from Italy where he had
some fun and games with the snow this week.

Jed

Greast pics mate, good to see those old boys again.
Was speaking to Cluey on Sat. morning and he reminded me of the
times when we used to sing to each other on the C B.  to keep ourselves
awake in the days when we used to do a bit. ( if you know what i mean )
He also mentioned a time when we were both working for Squibbs
( Transport Services ) and had loaded oranges in Valencia ( still in tilts then )
and came home via Teruel when it was a lousy road, no twin track then, but
good fun. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: I,m sure we parked at Zaragosa late at night.
After a late start and leisurely drive out of Spain and through France,we,d
had an evening meal ( i forget where ) and decided to go for the morning boat.
Pete and i were both knackered and stopped for a brew near Le Mans
in the early hours. We put the kettle on the gas cooker and both bloody fell asleep, waking to an empty kettle.
Could have been a bit dodgy that.
Anyway we made the morning boat, fit as fiddles.

To return to the Davies thread, here,s another member of the fan club. Shirley.

Hello Mappo,
Yeah used to play ‘guess the celebrity’ alot with Cluey. Ask him if he remembers cutting his shin open on a bar attempting to tighten the wheelnuts coming out of Italy?

Also ask keith about my first trip to Portugal with him, we stopped for a meal on the second night going to Lisbon (cant remember where), Keith said ‘just a meal then straight to bed’ (how many times has he said that in his life). Anyhow we ate had some vino then went to the bar for one, about two hours later he was asking where the local bag house was in his best Spanish - unfortunately the bloke we asked was quite religeous so got a bit offended. How do you think Keith broke the ice?..
He grabbed the blokes wig of his head and put it on, everyone in the bar cracked up.

We also got the information we needed, and took both units with trailers attached about 12km’s on down the road, just parked before we saw blue light on top of a car in the distance - a very lucky night all round.

This is coming down from Teruel going home.

This one is just before Irun ect, from Dave Morgans F10. Note the fan & wine glasses. A must have in any Volvo.

I,ll ask Cluey Jed, but he,ll probably read this anyway.

I cant believe my brother would lead you astray like that mate.
Pity i was,nt there to keep you in line aye.

Here,s Sids trailer again. Courtesy of Horrie.

Here a couple more, hard at it on another weekend in Perugia.

Look at these alloys, don’t they shine?

Have a good week everyone - We gotta get everyone together, a few beers in Southampton somewhere. A wet the babies head do for Jock!!

Ciao.

Mappo
How long do you have to keep apologizing for you Brother for :unamused: . We all know it is us that lead him astray  .

Jed.
I can see where Tom Daley got his inspiration to become an Olympic diver from, great technique.

Contract driver.
I’ll call you one night.
This guy Colin, single handily tried to clean up ( :unamused: )the North East.
After finding out how much the local restaurants were paying for there laundry he thought he could
undercut the big companies and do it cheaper. He sourced the ingredients and with a few old dustbins he started to make washing powder.
He had the components but didn’t know the exact quantity’s to mix together, like all Davies drivers making Camion Stew
he put a bit of this in and a bit of that till it looked right.

He thought he had it spot on until he heard the neighbours out side
watching the kids playing in the biggest free foam party ever.
Over the previous days trying to get it right he poured the surplus down the drain till it mixed with the rain water to come UP the covers as foam.

He kept a low profile for a while but he did manage to start up a laundry business for a short time washing the table cloths in dust bins.

Last time I ran with him he was trying to build a perpetual motor from old magnets he found on the tip.
 I wonder why John never kept him on :unamused: .

Sling
Coffee, that will keep you up all night  .
Great photo of the truck going through a village in Spain. I read somewhere on here that it’s a new road from Pamplona up over Teruel.

Must go and do a bit of work, BYE BYE NOW.

I’m pretty sure this was near to Ravenna, kiwi fruit/ peaches for Mercadona Valencia & Murcia?

Raymondo, (Rasher/ Mother) - First met him when he pulled for Bulldog with his 112 (in the Sayers of Newbury colours). He could ‘Gel On’ when he had to.

cracking stories and pics boys keep them coming

Here are a few pics from our days working for Dave Luff (Portsmouth).Anybody know what he is up to nowadays? and the whereabouts of this F12 - L23 WOR (believed to be ex Davies, Southampton).

Nice pics there retiredladytrucker of an old Davies motor, parked incidently in the top pic i see next to a
BKG lorry.
I,ve been absent for a while but to revive this thread here,s a couple of photos Mr Davies would probably
not want to be reminded of.

Not sure of the circumstances or whereabouts of accident but by my failing eyesight that looks to be a
French road sign in bottom photo. ( pic kindly supplied by Horrie )

Kwozzy

If you,re reading this i,ve found pic of you, my Bro. Keith and Tutty.

Had a phone call from wee Jock this week and he tells me that the driver involved in above
accident was Derek " Del Boy " Ford who now drives for BKG and lives in Spain.

Came across this pic of my old Globetrotter

Here,s the one i mentioned of Kwozzy, my Bro. Keith and Tutty
