Bloody bhell , what a cracking thread ! Great pics from back in the day…
…my only contribution is that i met Tony the Tart and a Scouse fella with his missus coming off the boat once out of Cean , and we run in convoy down to Spain…i was on CFS then…oh , and the Davies driver i weekended with in the TIR park north of Lisbon , forget his name , but he liked to read a book or two if that means anything to the old boys…
…there was a CFS driver called Les Phelps i believe left CFS and went onto Davies back 2001/02 i think , heard he"d moved to France , not sure though
…i"ll keep my eye out for the Tart , i"m in Soton Docks on boxes myself…Keep them pics coming
Welcome to the thread el sumo,
The scouse fella and his missus you mentioned was Albi and Yvonne.
The driver you were weekended with in Lisbon sounds like it might have
been Niel who was always studying to take a degree.
Most of us just used to go on the ■■■■.
The name Les Phelps does ring a bell sumo, but in those days Davies had
30 odd trucks so it was,nt easy to keep track of everyone.
Who are you doing boxes for mate ?,i work out of Soton. myself driving an MAN
drawbar. ( white cab with blue chassis )
Tony the tart has,nt changed in appearance by the way, still looks the same.

Cheers mappo That was it Albi , couldn"t think of his name last night , good laugh so i recall That Les Phelps always had one of those Morrocan no plates in his windscreen…
I"m driving a white Merc Actros ( E+R Frieght ) pulling for Maritime…bit like most of the ex-continental blokes it seems  Â

…I spoke to my brother Keith today, he,s in Greece with ships stores.
Plan A was to meet ship in Piraeus, ( or near there ) but because of a customs strike in Greece
he has to now get another ferry to Crete to meet ship there. I,m jealous as hell and i wanna go back to it.
…
Have been following this thread with great interest chaps, some great pics and stories on here.
Just wondered whether your brother ever got to Crete to tip or did he end up chasing the ship around the Med??
I did a 'three legger with the old girl.
I had Whackers old globetrotter (F380JKK), the engine blew when me & Gooj did a changeover at Bordeaux.
JD put a fridge & a CB in her and told me to gel on. Didn’t know that meant shipping out to Croatia to tip, loading up near Bolzano with kiwi fruit (running to Spain at 44tonnes) then tipping Mercadona Valencia/ Murcia followed by Syd’s at San Fulgencio.
Got loads of good comments about her all trip, the weekend sat in a services in Italy dragged though, not alot of room in an 88. Lucky John Eaton (axle) was with me to pass the time.
The tacho gave up on me on the back, so I had to do manual ones, that impressed the copper on the bike at Cherbourg, he let me go though.

This was my first left ■■■■■■ G602 ADD, Scott had her before me.
Bottom right, the first few FH’s he bought. London Mark (Bullit) had one of them.
I had L4 Gel from new.
