well done mappo, you are correct indeed it is ft, i was called hornby 00
down bakers yard by harry hampton and co, harry used to say i should
have stuck to wiring up trainsets, so the name stuck with all the fitters :laughing:

Hi Paul I remember those Volvos and also didn’t he start to break Volvos and keep all the spares in a Rag top 40’ container that had been condemned coz a log had rolled round in it bulging out the sides? I think I endeup with it after John had sold it to Dave Coombes!

Also I was over Morgan’s one day and I seem to remember seeing an AEC that had been a chinese 6 and had the middle axle removed and a sleeper added with John’s name on it! Anyone remember that?

to mappo have looked at those photos again the davies globetrotter is a 4x2 reg i think is J1LLD or J11LLD the other truck there is a globetrotter 6x2 tag plain white reg is G529PG? still trying to get better quality

Re George ‘Zimmer’ Rayner’ RIP

At his funeral I was talking to his son and he was with George when a foreigner in this car tried to push his way up the inside of him (at Nine Elms I believe) this was the result :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

I don’t think that we had side guards in them days!!
