Ran a few miles with these boys back in the Bosnia conflict of the 90’s working for JSL.
Wrighty just wondering if you got your wet suit on as you seem to have had a fair whack of the wet stuff recently, we are damp down here but not as bad as you, Buzzer

Yes it has to be said it’s bloody wet up ere, get tup sales out of the way on Weds then the remainder of the cattle will be coming in. Typical really as the grass has grown well this autumn but it is too wet to make use of it, no doubt there will be plenty for the sheep which are about tupped now.
As for New Zealand lamb it can stay on the shelf and we’ll stick to British, we are lucky to have an abattoir on our doorstep so we just send a heifer or a lamb as and when we have room in the freezer. Our Sunday joint has travelled about three miles in its entire life not thousands of miles like NZ not so fresh lamb.
Only at work for two days this week as we are selling tups then off to the hospital with Alice for some physio on her shoulder, she’s getting there now as she can fill meal bags and get them on the quad…
Wrighty sounds like Alice is getting plenty physio filling up them meal bags , well got all 36 steers indoors now as it is so wet and when one looks at the forecast it looks like a lot more to come our way, got the annual dreaded TB test on the 20th of Nov so cant wait to get that out of the way, think generally the cattle like being outside but it must be nice for them to have a dry bed to lay on and adlib silage plus the breakfast as per the pictures, Buzzer

Your cattle are looking well and what an even bunch, they should go on grand now there inside. We brought some cows and calves in today with some more heifers tomorrow, selling two bulls in the morning and then hopefully bringing the rest of the cattle in on Saturday.
The land is that wet now we need the cattle off, shame really as we have plenty of grass but that will no doubt get eaten by the grass rats.
The new garage at work is well on the way to completion and as you may have noticed from the last few posts the motor is looking a bit grubby, this is because we have not had any washing facilities at the yard for a few months now and have been relying on truck washes up and down the country. It has to be said that they generally make a poor job of washing them despite charging a fair wack for the privilege, hopefully the wash will be up and running shortly…
Hey up Wrighty if you are near Tracy Island I’me sure you would be welcome to use our wash and probably get help to do the job, just give us a ring mate, cheers Buzzer

Thank you Buzzer, if I’m down your way I will take you up on the offer of a DIT wash…
Storm Ciaran did not stop me stayed out the rain in the kitchen doing domestic science all day, made two cottage pies from scratch although I put the wrong date on the label and a big batch of Strawberry, Raspberry & Gooseberry mix jam now in the store room, Buzzer

Best place to be today indoors, you’ve had it rougher down there than us we’ve just had more rain but not much wind. Spent today moving yows down to our land further down the dale, a lot drier climate and it’s only about 13 miles away so they will be down there until they come back up to lamb.
All our cattle are now tucked up inside and I bet they are glad, next job spayning the older calves and sorting those cows which are next to calve, aye it’s all go roll on Dec for a couple of quieter months before lambing.
Well it’s not getting any drier up ere, heavy rain last night added to the already sodden ground. Busy among the cattle at the moment with worming bolusing and clipping their backs and a dose of louse powder for good measure, spained some more calves as well as the new arrivals, we had one born this morning which is determined not to ■■■■ it’s mother… oh the joys of livestock farming.
Busy at work had a ride on to the Isle of Skye on Monday with a drop of concrete panels to a farm, then up to Golspie on Tuesday morning to tip more panels then down to Nairn for a load of Xmas trees for Enfield.
