Some of you Vintage Southampton boys may remember the driver of the above picture of the car. I must be honest, I did not know who he was and usually I can remember most that worked here from way back when. He was on here when we were two tone blue and red and he told me he drove WHO 498V. His first driving job was for Ken Chant (rip). When seeking International driving, he was told to go down William St on a Saturday and find someone with a ■■■ in his mouth only 4-5mm long. According to him, the interview went something like: ’ Have you driven a left ■■■■■■ before?’ - No was the response. ‘Have you pulled a fridge before?’ again, No was the response. The interview was concluded, ‘Well you’re not much effin use then are you!■■’ Needless to say he was given a week’s trial sitting in the passenger seat with Mick Long as his guide and mentor to somewhere in Italy for STS. After that, he got a start! Anyway, back with us now after a 25 year absence. TTFN

P.S, Cluey you will know him…

TIR Tone will never get a container on top of that new ride of his!

Collecting provisions for the horses from the farm in Durley, usually once a week. It looks a bit precariouse but was well strapped down, who ever invented the ratchet strap deserves a medal, we come a long way since we only had ropes or chains.

Have a close look at the number plate on the Bentley, the last letter R is his christian name so you should be able to work it out from there.

Buzzer & Horry; I was having a meal with Smiffy & partner last night and we were reminiscing on a lot of times, we tried hard to come up with name of a driver that worked for you at some time but just cant remember what he was called. When he left you he went to work for a Londoner (we think) driving a red Scania 143 spots on the roof. He caused a big problem in La Jonquera where Wee Joc got a hiding from some bar owners,Smiffy offered to swap trailers with him cause he was in a bad state. Just wondered if you can recall what he was called. Thanks.BV… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Hya Steve ( BV ), how is Roy ■■? well i hope. Say hi from me next time you speak to him.
I cannot think which driver you,re talking about but i do seem to recall something
about wee jock in a bit of bother in La Jonquera. Bless him.
