Davies Int. Southampton. With photos (Part 1)

Yes plain blue DSV Scanias, you wouldn’t have noticed us, esp as its dark most of day at mo!

No second guessing who drove this motor, personally I hate name plates in windscreens or any other types of unnecessary tat. Also I hate reversing bleepers once cut a foot out the wire on Shirly’s truck as he used to purposely switch it on when reversing into Andersons road yard so that stopped that. Also told Dennis Samson to remove a three foot long tiger of the dash, any one would think we were a travelling circus and there are lots of opinions on that one as well, Buzzer.

Well if we hadn’t had enough rain and wind we now get a dose of the white stuff, aye it’s grand up ere int Dales…

Well we don’t want any of that down here thank you, anyways I bought a new beet pulper this week from a guy in Kirkby Steven is that any where near you Wrighty ?
Well it speeds up feeding time one hell of a lot, PTO driven of me old 590 beats the old handraulic version hands down, can you spot the difference in the pictures, Buzzer.

PS got to have a little Agricultural input just to keep “snapper” Morrison happy eh.

We are about 25 mins drive away, did you get the beet pulper from Mcwhirters by any chance ?. Wouldn’t wish our weather on anybody, it was supposed to rain this afternoon and wash the snow away, but it just stopped snowing so should make tomorrows commute to work interesting.

Cheers Wrighty.

And yes Buzzer the agricultural input on your thread should be seen as “educational”, so viewers of our posts will know to stay away from farming. Must admit I do like Snapper’s photo’s, if I were 20yrs younger and single I would have liked to of done a bit of euro work. Anyway better chuck another log ont wood burner.

Cheers Wrighty.

Yes mate it was Mcwirters but some ■■■■■■ nicked one of the new pins for the 3 point linkage, why one and not the lot little sticky fingered sods, Buzzer

Hi John,

Small world Angie’s father lives in Kirkby Stephen, and phoned today to say they had had a fall of the white stuff. As you said they can keep it up there thanks.

Regards
Richard

Nay nay Mr Buzzer thou hasn’t bin gettin dun for speeding has ta…

No mate saw them coming and stood to attention as you do, Buzzer.

I too noticed that cop car Wrighty…

I hope things are improving up your way with the weather. We’re still suffering here… The rain and storms whip over County Cork and head your way.

Methinks JD is under surveillance. Not for the first time eh…

As this is a mixed thread of trucking/ farming / livestock and 'Orses , I get confused sometimes where and what we’re talking about. However all are interesting and old Snapper Morton seems to have a new lease of life since his " grass is greener " episode.
We’ve all done that though eh.

On the farming side, I was very interested to see on Countryfile this week ( those uninterested may tune out now… ) to see the bit about New Holland tractors. Jeez. 150k starting price, computer driven etc…plus the size of the operation there and a new one rolls off every six seconds.
And the bit about the old tractors ( wee jock would love that bit ) and how things have changed in a relatively short time.

I was reminded of my first driving experience at 14 on a Fordson Dexter, at schoolfriends farm shortly after moving from the smoke to Hampshire ,( Exton Stud, Corhampton to be precise ) and memories of trying to reverse with a loaded hay cart trailer…
Oh, and my schoolfriends sister and the hay barn, but that’s another story…

Well we’ve had the lot this last week rain floods snow wind, and when I left home this morn it was bloody pea soup. Must admit modern tractors are very impressive but not very practical up here, a bit big, we still run a range of “practical classics” . Been down Essex today now parked up for the night at Lutterworth, loading Stoke int morning for Droitwich tomorrow dinner.

Cheers Wrighty.

Wrighty you are so right there about these modern tractors you nearly need a degree to operate the things, full of computer controls just like the trucks. Aint like the old days when you just got out and got under and fixed what had gone wrong, most truckers back in the day carried a basic tool kit for this purpose and think back then there was more camaraderie from fellow truckers not so today and any way you need to plug into a computer at a main dealer to boot, I sometimes think I was born too soon, ok life was harder but a lot simpler, cheers Buzzer.
