A character though.
Among many at that time in the mid 90’s working for you… Reader, Silly Keith, Wacker, London Mark, Begsy , TIR Tone , Semtex etc etc…
Is it still the same now I wonder?

Jim’s brother got put away for that for a time at one of her Majesty’s hotels and this had a bad effect on him, think he was suffering enough from guilt without being incarcerated , Buzzer.

Back to trucks and here is Dave Coombes servicing my 110 Scania in TIP’s yard of West Quay Road, He had a Commer cob van and came from Salisbury for those who don’t remember and worked for Scania dealers Unit Commecials before going out on his own. In the background you can see one of Star Car Transporters bionic bubbles and after them came F7’s, also I think if you look hard you can see a Ford D series right at the back which they ran in the early days, Buzzer.
Hi Buzzer is that the same Dave Coombes that used to have a yard just off A36 not far from no mans land.Cheers Geoff

Hi Geoff yes it is one and the same he broke up a few old trucks, it was in the former Coates gravel pit where there were numerous so called industrial units usually made of wood and tin. Dave had a side kick there with him who lived in an old caravan, he had a nick name which escapes me at the moment (might have been Minty) as by god he did hum especially in summer, his overalls were shiny from my recollection.
Coates ran the pits and as a kid I remember there thames traders coming to our farm with aggregate if we were going to do some concreting, in the end they packed in and just let bits off, cheers Buzzer.

I went there a few times and remember his side kick Minty sounds about right bit of a hippy type wasn’t he. My old F88 left ■■■■■■ ended up at Dave’s had a lump in my throat when I left her there.cheers Geoff
A few Brits parked up in the “Macon for the Weekend” pic! From the left, Whites, yourself, then Lubbers, Newell & Brown x 2, StageTruck and Stardes, Skint & Knackered x 2. Walkers and then Yeardleys.
