Hi I used to subbie for Dave Prince of Cheddar many years ago, he sold up and moved to somewhere in Canada (but I can’t remember where) last I heard about 5/6 years ago he had a farm and about 10 trucks. If his colours (colors?) are the same as he used here they will be Orange & White.
I worked with a guy in Southampton called Steve Diamond he also went to Canada about 3 years ago.
Has anyone come across either of them?
I know its along shot and Canada is a big place, I grew up and went to school on the outskirts of Calgary about 58 years ago.
Gavin
I have an idea that Dave Prince is here in Manitoba. I will try to find out for you, but I think he is in Winchester Municipality which is out to the West of us.

Thanks I’ll keep looking.

If you google his name and Wnchester municipality there are a couple of things that pop up. Do you know Tony Hayward at all? And how about the ubiquitous John “Spanner” Wrench?
When I was subbying there, Princes trucks were in all the time at Avonmouth.
Hi bobthedog, Tony Hayward parks on the airport in WSM? I’m sure thats him I don’t realy know him but I have met him a few times. As for Spanner I’ve known him for about 35 years he now lives about 500 yards from me, never subbed for him though .
I have tried Googling For Dave Prince some time ago but was not able to narrow it down, I’ll try again. He used to be based at Draycot Nr. Cheddar when I subbied for him (about 83/84) but later moved to Avonmouth partly because he got too big for his yard-problems with neighbours & Dracot was too far out in the sticks
Gavin
That’s the Tony. Top man. He and I worked alongside for quite a while. He bought my old Renault from me, and I bought his tank…
Say hello to Spanner for me when you see him, please. I hear he was asking after me a while ago but not been able to get hold of him as my cellphone was too costly to keep for now.
I will try to get info for you about Dave Prince. I think it is the same one. Tony told me he was here and that he couldn’t stay away from the trucks before I left. Some people just get into it so deep they can never leave it…

Hi Gavin, i,m assuming the guy you,re thinking of is Ian Elkins, a well known and liked driver in
Southampton. Ian is an owner driver again with a magnum pulling boxes out of Soton. I spoke to him a few days ago…He,s just returned from his hols in Australia. Hope this helps.

Glad to hear that Steve,s landed on his feet over there, nice bloke… i worked with him on Davies and for Sandy. I remember his missus from the Stena ( love ) boat, smashing girl, but cant for the life of me think of her name.
If you.re in touch with him Shady, give him my regards mate.
Tir tone… Your memory is like your age, past it,her name is Michelle,i spoke with them both a couple of weeks ago now,I’m sure they’re having a great tine out there
Not sure but I think the Stena Normandy now does the Nova Scotia- Newfoundland sailing…
Hi bobthedog (Rob) thanks for the info on Dave Prince
I hope you are all healed up now and don’t have to sleep in the seat any longer
Gavin
Yes thanks. All re-aligned except for the collarbone. And the ribs are all better now. Able to throw straps again but staying on vans a little while longer…
Last spoke with Dave Prince about four years ago,he was just outside Brandon MB,had 3 trucks on the go then, running Toronto and back.Offered me a job ,but he didn’t reckon much of the town/city as a place to live,so didn’t take up his offer.Still see the occassional orange and white ‘PRINCE’ on the highway.
Are they the same Prince though? There is another out in Quebec… So it is the same Dave Prince, Gavin. Winchester municpality is down that way somewhere…
The Dave Prince in Brandon is definately the same one who lived in Draycott,I used to live in Axbridge just down the road from him.
You misunderstood me. I know that is the same Dave Prince. I meant the trucks you see on the road. I see lots of Prince trucks but there is another Prince trucking firm in Quebec.
Brandon is fairly local for me, or Winchester is…
