does anyone know of somewhere to park up for the night in darwen? preferably free of charge.

You’re probably better off on ‘Blackburn with Darwen’ services (dont know if they charge) at Jnc 4 of the M65 or behind the Merc Trucks dealership next door. There is also Shadsworth Ind Est off Jnc 5. Darwen is a bit difficult as there is only one main road running through which is parallel with the railway line so if you dont know your way around you could encounter a low bridge or weight limit.
Blimey I wish I had seen this abit earlier as I live in Darwen. The best place to park which is just off the main road is on Edward st.
Loads of tankers and tauts park their ready to go into Akzo and Lucite for the next morning. Ive never heard of any problems with visitors in the night as it is well lite.
Their is a Lidl on Bolton Rd with a chippy, Chinese and Indiain less than 100 yards away.
