Maximum weekly driving time is 56 hours, so you can drive for a maximum of 1 hour 38 minutes before midnight as long as it doesn’t take you over the 90 hours driving time in the past two consecutive weeks.

When did you week start some people think fixed week is Monday to Sunday but its when you started that’s your week but if you search on here driving hour questions are asked all the time and they say cpc is a waste of time

No offence intended but if you’ve done the DCPC it obviously is a waste of time
The fixed week starts at midnight on Sunday and finishes at midnight the following Sunday.
You can legally do 56 hours driving time during the fixed week (00:00 Monday to 24:00 Sunday).
You can legally do 90 hours driving time in any two consecutive fixed weeks (00:00 Monday to midnight Sunday two weeks later).

A fixed week is Mon to Sun as far as driving is concerned maybe you need to brush up on your cpc.
That’s if you start Monday as you are saying you could do 4 10 hour driving shifts in a week if you start on a Friday that would be fun for vosa when they pull you over
Sorry I’m wrong just been on vosa sight it is Monday to Sunday a bit messed up in my eyes

No worries mate, we all mess up sometimes
The 90 hours in a fortnight is very silly it should be 112 hours a fortnight

“and they say DCPC is a waste of time”…
They do and I did it all last year fixed working week is just a silly little way of doing things but cpc has its place with the right instructors but there is loads of arguments on here already about it
Yes, thanks for the info. I didn’t do an hour and a bit, just started this am. Done 9 today which leaves me 26 odd hrs to do til 0000hrsunday I guess. Good in some ways, bad in others. Also does a 0400 strt mean I’m on nightshift (ie 10hr etc)? In other words what time is day shift ? 4,5,6 am?? Cheers

Night time for goods vehicle drivers is 00:00 to 04:00 or midnight to 4 AM if you prefer to see it that way.
So a 04:00 start does not limited you to the 10 hours working time.

So if you start inbetween those times your on a “nightshift”? E.g start at 0300? Is it one of those opt out things?
Tachograph_ thanks for the info, easier than trawling thru that vosa thing…+ quicker:).RE: nightshift So if for some reason my working day spills over to 0015hrs. And therefore exceeds 10hr day, does that mean I broke some rule??

It’s not the start time that matters, for the RT(WT)R if a driver of a goods vehicle who works to EU regulations does any work during the period from 00:00 to 04:00 you’re classed as a night worker and should comply with the night time workers limit of 10 hours working time in the 24 hour period.
The night time working limits apply to goods vehicle drivers from 00:00 to 00:04, the night time working limits apply to PSV vehicle drivers from 01:00 to 05:00.
You can opt out of the night time working limit if there’s a workforce agreement in place.
To be honest I don’t know how many companies comply with the night time workers limit but certainly many of the bigger companies do, and on many companies the drivers use it to their advantage if they don’t want long shifts at night

Technically yes, unless you’ve opted out of the night time working limit you would be failing to comply with the working time regulations if working to 00:15 put your working time over 10 hours.
The night time working limit is 10 hours working time in any period of 24 hours, so you can legally go over the 10 hours by using breaks and/or POA neither of which counts as working time.
To be honest I wouldn’t worry too much about it though, I’ve never heard of anyone being jailed for it, but if your company works to the night time limit you could get an infringement, but that’s about as bad as it’s likely to get
