I’ve got 74 plate DAF XG which has done around 30 000 miles, last week I was on my way to Birmingham when I noticed it started to judder and the rev counter was bouncing. Got to site and engine was switched off for 2 hours. Left site and it was still juddering, then popped up the engine management light. So took it straight to DAF, to be told that it’s a problem with the second injector and they need to speak to DAF Technical as this is a common problem with this model.
So the lorry is still in DAF 6 days later, I arrived back into our yard this afternoon, to be asked to see the management. DAF are reporting that there is adblue in the diesel. Like I would be stupid enough to fill the wrong tank with the wrong fuel. Anybody else had a problem similar?
Yes common issue with them apparently. We have 2 72 plates. Dont do mega miles but the 530 has had one complete set of new injectors and the 480 keeps having injector cleaner flushed through it.
Very poor, otherwise a decent truck I think. But when the injectors start to play up they’re useless. Struggle to pull away even partially loaded and horrendous knocking that gets a few looks
Daf are well aware of the issue so I’m told.
Yeah I read this was a common problem and also was told this by the man on the front desk at DAF. I’m just confused with how they are saying there’s ad blue in my diesel tank, waiting for it to be sent off to the lab
If it’s a well known problem by daf which they’ve admitted.
surely they should all be recalled and repaired.
If it happened to a car and it was a well known problem thed soon issue a recall
chances are they couldnt fix it -or possibly really blew it -in those 6days so now gone down the drivers put ad blue in wrongly route! Years back i went to a garage and while standing talking to a mechanic i touched a large pipe with my foot and asked what it was from? Anyhoo a day or so later turned out this pipe went missing and not only was it me was blamed but someone “had seen me” throwing it into the woods nearby!
