Daf XF sky lights

Looking for information. Is it possibly to get the sky lights and full beam to come on at same time?

Top of my head, it is illegal.
Some do put in switches and relays, but strictly speaking, I think not.

Don’t think it illegal nowadays as the Scania I drive has roof, grille and normal headlights come on when on main beam. That’s from the factory too. It used to be that they had to be a certain height to pass MOT but AFAIK that changed years ago.

Ref the DAF ones I seem to recall the same question and apparently DAF swill sell some relay or something that will make them all come on together.

OK, I stand corrected.

You may be premature there :joy: I’m only going on heresay not a definitive legal position.

If your truck came from the factory/dealer with low and roof main beam lights able to be on at the same time, I would not look much further.
We can agree it was illegal at one time, but seems not now.

I know this is France but when, after retirement, I was doing dog deliveries all over Europe I wanted to put spots on the roof linked to the full beams. This was because much of what I did involved country forested lanes at night and full beams, connected to the correct dip height, simply weren’t good enough.

However when I researched it I discovered that they had to be in the same vertical line as the headlights, thus no good on a car.

So, if the law is similar in the UK I would assume that it would be ok for a normal forward control vehicle.

The Scania full house is great for getting ignorant cars to soon switch off their beams on :ok_hand:

Absolutely! They soon learn to dip their lights.

I have a theory that the new Scania lights, especially the grille mounted ones just below the windscreen could actually cut through the doors of a bank vault! :joy:

Cheers. Will ask at the next inspection
