Easy people SuperSmiley…back with his dots
Today i went out in a DAF CF tractor unit…and everytime i went to find 5th gear…I either put it into 7th or simply struggled to locate the 5th gear slot…now what i’m trying to work out …is if it was just me being rubbish…that particular vehicle or an actually problem with DAF’s■■?
Anyone else had this problem■■?
Might be the range change blocking a bit. Press down on clutch, then move gear stick right to left a couple of times, then try again, and use the switch too, whilst up and down with clutch. I noticed it on one or two older ones. Not driven one for some time so going by the memory.

Are you pre-selecting? I.e. moving the switch into the upper position before you need to take the gear. I think I’m right in saying that the linkage to the gearbox is by ‘air’ and needs time to operate, 2 or 3 seconds before the actual gear change is all it needs.
They’re a bit sticky till they warm up a bit as well

As above though, It is a bit lumpy when its cold.

i hadn’t a real problem at all.
as some already say=double clutch when gearbox cold.
but,by older Gearboxes is mostly the Syncronring on fifth gear gone,and you can’t chanche to them without noice
