Daf cab Adjustment

image.jpgAny tips on moving the cab over to the near side ,nothing’s worn it’s a case getting the bumper and lower grill/ light surrounds to line up perfectly .the steps almost touch the light surround on the off side ,large gap on near side ,cab brackets look like there’s room to move in the elongations .

Is it fat driver cab sag?

No ,it’s left to right ,not up and down .

What does it look like relative to the hubs? It obviously looks like there’s a small amount of adjustment room. I would have thought it more likely step/bumper in need of adjustment and usually there’s a fair bit of adjustment movement between them. With the n/s there’s a good chance the step got stoved in and repaired not quite perfectly at some stage.

Bumper ect. 0 adjustment ,it’s not an Erf you know !!! the bumper ,the above panel ,to the headlamp brackets are all an exact fit theres no movement at all ,ill post some more pics tomorrow to show the way the screws with built in washers locate in the panels

I seem to think that if you go far enough back the framework the bumper mounts to does have elongated bolt holes either where it mounts to the chassis, or just before that and the whole lot shifts across. I haven’t got a Daf in the yard to go and look at though.

o I’ve gone plenty far back ,i even snapped of the aly bracket that the air dryer bolts to which bolts to the towing eye bracket that carries the cab mount on the chassis that the bumper bolts to ,you could say the cause was self inflicted by being rough with my equipment ,enough said.

Sorry they’re all up side down ,here are all the parts and holes involed ,the cab step/ arches measured to the chassis show 3/8 ths of inch less on n.s .

Looks like the only option. What’s the plan? Try and ease it across with a hydraulic puller or forklift with sideshift might do it. Could be one of those jobs like trimming your sideburns where you keep levelling up each side till they’re gone.

Take it you’ve repainted the chassis but did the original paint look like it had ever been interfered with previously?

Job done ,undo 4 bolts captive each side ,remove one ,screw driver in ,cab eased over nicely .

Job’s a good un, funny how it wasn’t right to start.

Probably had a nudge at some time.
