daf 3300

TautlinerTerry:
…do you remember the era of the sleeper pods? I distinctly remember foreigners (mainly Dutch I think) with twin steer 33/3600s with pods on and very close coupled 45ft trailers, does this ring any bells with you??..

Yep, I remember seeing them quite abit. can picture them now in my head but cant get a name!!..light blue trucks maybe!!

Also, didnt De-Roy run a few with pods on due to the vehicle configuration for truck deliveries?? Dont think they were 3300 though! (back on thread!  )

There were loads- late 80s early 90s, jan de ruk ,philips electrical , carmans, overdurp ,norberts etc. & i’m sure i remember some cabs literally the length of the door i.e- not having the ‘little’ window behind,… they must have only employed short ■■■ drivers

Fransens are ringing bells with me.

It was Fransens who my mate in Chatam pulled for with the white tractor unit with a top sleeper.

Hi John, heres one with a top sleeper…I remember once waiting for a Fransens driver at Wincantons at Brentford to take some of his load off him,it was a Sunday cos I was moonlighting for my mate, this fella eventually showed up dressed in a pure white suit and what looked like slippers on…I think he was batting for the other side…every time Fransens get mentioned it brings this fella to mind…nice truck ,shame about the driver :unamused:

Cheers Bubbs, PS I know its only a 2800 :unamused:

Here’s one I fished out- not very good quality but how many shots do we have of the inside of a Daf 3300 cab?? I took this on a night out somewhere and in case you’re wondering it’s The Benny Hill show on the telly !

WELL DONE BUBBS You came up trumps again !!

Some of my pictures

Used to love driving this beast, a 6x4

Here it is earning its keep tackling the mud in the former Yugo. It was fantastic in the snow and ice to.

From an old firm from calne, wilts…

That’s Paul Binn’s 3300, he bought that after he passed his test, used to ride around in an 814 sleeper cabbed Merc before that, it had so much stuff on it that it had a payload of a ton  That Daf was originally in the pre Europa colours of EVS (European Van services) white with 3 blue wedge stripes up the side, it looked better then

Newmercman, here it is

Holland 1987 with the pride of our removal fleet. A brand new daf 2800. Two of us lived in that until 1998 when the workshop killed it trying to repair the gear lever. She didn’t half have some air leaks but I was gutted when she got sold. My favorite drive by far.

Pinched this from another thread, had a couple of nights out in this as a kid with my dad

Sweden in 1995, for some reason they painted her white.

The climb upto St Bernard tunnel from Italy into Switzerland. Must of been about 1993, the ex wife in the passenger seat gives the date away.

Think your find the light blue pod 95s i think were Brains on the Maersk contract

I just received the new 2800/3300/3600 book for my birthday, I loved his F88/89 book, not quite so the 110/111/140/141 offering, but have to say I’m disappointed with the latest one

Maybe we’ve been spoiled by Bubbs’s legendary Scrapbook Memories thread (about a quarter of the photos are Marcus’s, and another quarter from Dave Wakefield, who I think is the truckphotos4sale guy?) but for a £20 book there’s just very little substance in my honest opinion.

There are quite a few interesting photos, but mainly just basic technical info with little about the operators or work - maybe it just doesn’t suit my tastes? For Mushroomman there is a nice b&w photo of a Blue Dart daycab 2800

heres a old un for ya
