Hello to everyone, my firm is being taken over by D.S. Smith (packaging), and I’m wondering just what they’re like to work for? t &c’s, general crack? Any and all info will be gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation.
I used to load out of 1 of their places when I was on Archbold, couldn’t tell you what they’re like to work for, but when loading, you open both curtains, and as they load it, you strap it.
Nothing leaves that isn’t strapped, even cardboard that’s loaded curtain to curtain.
So, from this, I’d say they’re a ‘by the book’ firm, h+s top priority, so maintainence etc should be fine.
Not much help, hopefully someone who knows more will be along soon.
read some of the reports and there is a message on their web site to sca employee’s
dssmith.uk.com/about-us/mess … -employees
i don’t think you will find any change really in what you are doing at present, looks like still going to operate as seperate companies for a while at least, i seee the take over is £1.3 billion not to be sneezed at.
Many thanks for the replies so far, I do feel a little easier, not much, but a little!
Well to be truthful I think that it doesn’t matter who you work for now they are going to want a pound of flesh, just play the game and keep your nose clean.
Louth don’t make you strap anything and it would seem they don’t care much about h&s but they do like to seriously injure and kill off there employee’s
