CV info help

Hi,

I have registered on a couple of online job sites and they require a CV uploading in order to apply for jobs. I haven’t done a CV since I was 20 (many moons ago). Any pointers on what to include or leave off would be helpful.

I’m not even sure how to lay one out. Would anyone be willing to share an example of their own (without the personal details  ) ?

Many thanks.

This got me my current job:

Thanks for that Nick. That’s the kind of thing I was looking for. I will try to adapt it to my circumstances and fingers crossed.

Don’t copy the first line in the ‘about me’ section !! I’m sure you’ll spot the error.

Oh ■■■■, wrong copy. I fixed that before I sent it in!

Tailor the personal statement to the recipient, going to a logistics outfit where some 20 year old ex college type is going to read it and the bull will be fine as thats the sort of guff they would have put.

If the recipient is a transport man or someone a bit more mature, then telling him you’re wonderful won’t cut any ice, no ones going to say they are waste of space who’ll take the ■■■■ mercilessly nick half the load and take at least 3 weeks sickies every other month, so the opposite doesn’t need saying.

Its work history thats important, plus licence time and any decorations on licence, what you’ve done who for and for how long and why you are looking for a job, if you’ve had no accidents and have never taken a sickie say so boldly inviting them to confirm with previous employers, named.

All on one page max, simple language easy to read, you’re applying for a job as a lorry driver presumably so stress what you’ve done lorry wise.

Make yourself stand out over the herd.

Tip, if you’ve specialised in certain respected sectors of the job make sure they know that within the first couple of lines.

Lol glad you did or I would be well impressed with getting a job with that version !! Hopefully the OP hasn’t already copied it & added his own personnel details !!!

Thanks for the help guys. I haven’t copied any of it, I was just looking for an idea for the layout etc. Also coming from someone who has used it to get a job it is a great help.

Thanks again.
