John Dixon and his son Bill were livestock hauliers and animal feeds suppliers until the mid 1960`s.
They were based in Old Hutton , near Kendal , where son Bill ( shown looking proud in photograph ) still lives.
The Two-Stroke engined Commer was bought new in 1959 , and was still relatively new when the photo was taken.

Stan Stewardson , from Hawkshead , bought the much-coveted " A Licence" .

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Now why didn’t you snap that licence up CWM right on your patch ? I’m sure they would have accepted payment in Sovreigns ! :unamused: :unamused: Dennis.

Fortunately before your time “CG” is this question I’m about to pose. Now I can see that Kenneth’s colour scheme is nothing like any other ■■■■■■■■ fleet colours, well considering they are mostly different shades of green ! However,I wonder if he ever considered, when deciding, painting and lettering his old motors in the livery of his Grandads firm,J.W. Graham of Bass Lake which in later years was run by his dad and “uncle Puzzle”.Maybe there are family “politics” involved but the motors sure would have looked well in that fine old livery of a quality fleet of yesteryear eh! Cheers Bewick.

Green seemed to be a poplar colour for ■■■■■■■ hauliers

I had a run out to-day over to Alston my good lady has just come out of hospital & fancied the run seeing that it was a nice day for a change, I noticed that Hendersons Garage is still there with their name on , Still looking tidy in its old age I must say, Just like their motors when they were in business, Happy Days, Regards Larry.

I trust your good ladie’s stay in hospital was nothing serious Larry and that she will soon be back to 100% and “bollocking” you up hill and down dale  I knew Bob Henderson fairly well and his son Tony, who ran the transport operation from Langwathby, great lad Tony, his brother was a bobby in Kendal for many years, probably retired now.Now Bob was a real character,he used to get about all over the place, they were Rootes Group dealers in Alston and he always drove a Hillman/Humber Sceptre car,he often used to turn up at our garage in Milnthorpe village in the '70’s at lunchtimes with his bag of fish and chips,he could smell a “brew” a mile away eh! But a great bloke to listen to,full of craic and gen about all kinds.Cheers Dennis.

Never heard of this out-fit “CG”,were they a local cowboy firm from about Wigton ? Bewick.

Thanks for the compliment CG however you are two years behind the times as I sold the ERF to friend with Cameron & Gibbon connections in Torphins Aiberdeenshire in July 2011.
Cheers Leyland 600

Aye they were right cowboys, they had to be as they kept getting ambushed at Levens Bridge then after a gallop along the Prince’s Way were ambushed again Milnthorpe traffic lights and Beetham bridge by a bunch of bandits from down there with red Atkis.

Hello Leyland 600

Your very welcome marra.

I did wonder if you had sold it on as I hadn’t seen it on the rally scene for a while

Do you know if Boyes at Ireby sold on their Volvo F86 as I haven’t seen that on the rally scene since 2009?
