Hi Hodgeturbo,
Did you not read the notice that all deliveries/collections/beggings, etc., must be made to the back door,…
but you have parked outside his front door .
Polish your boots, and better luck next time.

hiya,

thanks harry, long retired.
Hello harry gill
Yes, its certainly a lovely truck
it’s the first time I’ve seen the truck on the rally scene although I’ve read articles and seen photos of it before
I must have been feeling charitable as J G Stamper had a bucket on the back for raising money for dementia research (I think that’s what the charity was) so I put some money in
This cutting from a 1970 Seddon advertismest might be of interest to Leyland 680 , as well as to Dennis.
I wonder how much money he got for singing the praises of Seddons ?
Ah, well,…at least it put Barrow - in - Furness on the road transport map.

You certainly can “dig em up” CWM,yes I knew Brian Smedley he went onto work for Bowater Scott as a driver after Bradys bought out Athersmiths, maybe before they bought them,I’m not just sure. And I believe that Athersmiths were one of the first customers to buy Seddons although I can recall them running an Octopus and trailer,an Atki and trailer and also a Leyland Steer and trailer, they were also Bedford agents and ran a few TK 4 wheelers.Athersmiths was a “red hot” union firm, probably as bad as BRS,Barrow was,and still is, a “Red Town” (the words of the late great Jackie Brady) so the Athersmith drivers worked strictly to rule and in their later years they just allowed the union to continue and the 3 brothers just gave up and sold out, prior to their main customer (Barrow Paper mills) closing.I reckon that the last Brady Octopus would do the work of two of the Athersmiths 8 wheeler and trailers, they really were lazy ■■■■■■■■ so that is why there was, prior to Bradys takeover, a major exodus of Athersmiths drivers to Bowaters and Blue Dart and Blue dart was worse than Athersmiths,it used to take those lazy ■■■■■■■■ on Blue Dart two days to get their trunks to London from Barrow ! Cheers Dennis.
