That firm rings a bell,I used to know one of the 111 drivers, a lad called Kenny, from Wigton I think, late 70s, (date not his age ) one of first drivers in county to have a CB radio I remember, never seen him since then.

Port Rd, & yeast to a firm in Crown & Anchor Lane, they were bakers sundriesmen they moved to Willowholme Ind Est. also the Silver Grill Bakery with cooking oils. Then I used to load back off Robsons from MBC. Botcherbey Factory, for Tiny Tim Cat Food at North Shields, part of Tyne Brand Products, where it took all day to offload, but my gaffer was ok about it, a decent pay job he said, but having said that Robsons Border Transport were the top ■■■■■■■■ Hauliers in those days ,if you know what I mean. & if I remember rightly Browns was Browns of Thursbey ?. Great photos, I myself ran an S20 Foden, Robson must have been Fodens best customer, by you they had plenty, I used to load Carnation milk from Dumfries, as was quite pally with a Robson driver Cliff Charlton, I think he ended up with a bicycle shop in Hexham, I dont know if he is still about, but he was a cracking lad to know, also he could drive Fodens the way they were made to be driven. I used to give him a lift home when I loaded off Robson, & drop him off at Brampton. Regards Larry

Larry the Geordie lads that worked at Robsons must have paid rent on that layby on the outskirts of Hexham (the one with the horse-trough). It was always full. On reflection Micky Quinn was probably charging Robsons for the priviledge anyway.
regards kevmac47.
Hello lawrence dunbar,
Have you got a copy Bob Tuck’s ‘Robson’s’ Book that he did in the 1990’s, because there is a lot of Carnation Milk Robsons photos in their.
