Dave the Renegade:

Bewick:
I didn’t nod off! honest!! Wheres the wrecker?

And I would think you got away with not a lot of damage Dennis.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya Dave, actually the trailer was written off and I insisted, and got, a new cab on the tractor as it was only 18 mth old and no matter how they pull and twist a bent cab on the Jig the high tensile steel eventually starts warping at a later date.I wasn’t opposed to seconhand parts being used on an older motor but on a new one I wanted it back as near perfect as possible! I was with the same insurer for circa 20 years, firstly Century ins, taken over by Pheonix and then in turn by Sun Alliance, it was the underwriters that were the constant contact over 20 years so because of my connection with these same guy’s I could more-or-less run my own repair policy, much to the amusement of our Scania dealers! I re-call that they were adament that there was no way would this Scania warrant a new cab! I said, wana’ bet? I call Sun Alliance direct(missing out my broker) and 5 minutes later the Dealers were “speechless”! They were confident that the damaged cab would have to go to Newcastle for “Jigging”!!Cheers Dennis.

Hi little ha ha,
Thanks for putting up latest photos.
Looking at the Volvo F L 10 tipper of Watsons of Arlecdon, the reg. no. is M 334 PAO, and the F L 10

Keep `em coming !
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Hello little ha ba.
The photo of the ERF EC14 Thomas Armstrong, I know that lorry is still around. It does runs between the Flimby HQ and Workington Slag Banks. They also have a Leyland DAF 85 CF which does yard shunting and sometimes makes a run on the main road.
How long ago was the photo taken and where?

These Armstrongs are Sub contractors to Stobarts.

Carl Williams:
I read with interest all this rubbish about Eddie Stobart.

I know I come from Durham County whih is on the other side of the country from ■■■■■■■■ and I have had no direct interest in Road Haulage since we closed in 1986, but until recently I had never heard of Eddie Stobart, and when I have read of the information, no doubt given out by their public relations department I read the company is basicly run by accountants. Our business was founded in 1919 by my grandfather, and from my experience road haulage is something that is in your blood. I’m sure like us most of the hauliers have from time to time made mistakes but all decisions will have been made on gut feelings and the welfare of your business and employees and not just the benefits it will make to the bottom line of your annual accounts

From the sixties until the mid eighties we continually got letters from people, saying they watched our vehicles when they travelled on the road. We even got letters of people seeing them in France. In those days when they asked for a vehicle list it was not computor generated, but typed out, but we always replied, not for publicity purposes or an idea drawn up by an advertising agent, but because we were pleased that they had noticed our vehicles

Congratulations to the advertising agents who thoight up the scheme for Stobarts and the accountants that saw the value in the publicity, but personally without this I would never have noticed one of their vehicles. Now Berwick is a different case. The red and white livery and the lettering stand out. Congratulations to who ever thought of it. Their vehicles I would have noticed

Hello Eddie Stobart Fan,

Thanks for the info on the Thomas Armstrong lorries. Even though I’m a Stobart Spotter, I didn’ t know that Amstrongs do sub-contracting to them. What do they haul for them?
