Evening all, Dennis, I always liked the look of those little Scania 80, and81s, (particularly those I saw in your colours)!, but never had any experience of them. The French loved the LB, and LS, (those conventionals, the tanker men, they adored them, Andre Giraud in particular). When I came “home” it was all 93s and 113,143 etc, so I really missed out. Have never even driven one!! What were they like to run? I loved the F86, I gather you were not so keen. Do you think that the 80, 81, was a better motor? why? Cheerio for now,(cut my first hay tonight, tastes, smells and feels great)!! Just keep the rain away!
hiya,
Scania 80 range, bah get that man in the stocks biggest pile of rubbish ever produced if ever a motor was overrated it was those heaps.
thanks harry long retired.

This is an ex Markley 112 I bought for handy money and it did us a decent job once it had passed through our workshops and was “squared up” eh! cheers Dennis.
Never knew there was a transport company called Bewick, were they famous?

Are you in the “Day room” at the moment, or have you just managed to wiggle your arms out of the restraints to type? Yes, Bewick’s was well known, rather than “famous” as you put it, although what fame has to do with being a decent company with a reputation for doing the job properly is anybody’s guess. I don’t know quite how you people get this fixation for all things red white and green, but you really should consider some kind of professional help, as its obviously affected your ability to think rationally.
I’m pleased that you have a hobby because you sound as though you won’t have a bird, I should think you’re quite content with the esl spotters book and a big box of Kleenex.
Good luck with the medication though hopefully you’ll be ok soon, the only other option will be electric shock therapy, or EST as its known. Hang on… EST…Electric Shock Therapy, Eddie Stobart Trucks…wow is that a coincidence??
Hello.
Thanks Bewick for posting the Ex Markley Transport lorry. Have you any photos when it was owned by Markley’s?

I would go back to reading the Beano and Dandy sonny! don’t know how old you are but if you are what your “handle” say’s you are you’ll be pretty infantile by my reckoning! Bewick.

Sorry CG I haven’t as I didn’t make a habit of “lurking” about Silloth with my camera! Too busy taking shots of Bewick tractors and trailers! If you’d asked me all those years ago I’m sure I could have got you one of the Markley 112 from Graham Commercials Doh! Cheers Dennis.

Hiya “Saviem” hows the hay time going? The Scania 80 IMO ranks with the F86,not quite up to the job at 30/32 ton gvw. However, the Scania 81 was an excellent fleet tractor and we operated about 10,81’s over the years, only on our distance fleet,we never double shifted them. The only problem I remember was Scania obtaining a batch of engines from their Brazilian plant and they started dropping the oil pick-up pipe off.But we got the re-call before either of the two we had failed! The 93 was another good little workhorse and we did ,in fact, run one out of Devon at 38 ton with no probs whatsoever.Keep doing the “anti rain dance” round the camp fire!! cheers Dennis.

Never mind, only if I’d been a member all those years ago.
Can anyone help, has anyone else got a photo of this lorry when it was owned by Markley Transport of Silloth?
