As happysack Said, Thompsons are a big operation these days, seem to work in many different fields.

They seem to have a few walking floors etc hence I thought that they hauled for Jenkinsons, who have a virtual monopoly in this area. I have been told that Lawsons of Cockermouth have a walking floor that hauls for Jenkinsons.

Jenks were working with Stobarts on the W-F work, although I’m not 100% if they still are, Happysack probably can give more info.

There’s a few doing little bits on Walking floors, plenty of work going on as there’s a lot of logging in the lakes and a lot of chip to talk away as a result.

Cheers, yes there are lot of WF’s about these days, Hayton Coulthard are even into them, hauling out of Barrow In Furness amongst other places.

The whole stobart/jenkinsons thing baffles the ■■■■ out of me to be honest

Haha that makes two of us, tbh everything I’ve heard is 2nd hand so got to sort the stuff out isn’t easy. I’m pretty sure it was true that Jenkinson was a shareholder for Stobarts, and the Stobart Biomass drivers were working under Jenkinsons planners, or at least some were. I’ve seen Stobarts units pulling the Jenkinson’s walking floor trailers before too

Certainly see Jenkinsons & Hayton Coulthard heading in & out of Barrow, but can’t figure out where they’re going to. Not aware of any chipping plants.

Jenkinsons baffles me also, they’ve grown huge in a short space of time , come from nowhere, & why Stobart sub contracts through them.

Walking floors are used for a lot of waste not just chippings, I think there either taking paper in/out of Kimberly Clarke, or something to do with CWR

Indeed walking floors & chipliners are useful trailers to own.

Theres no secret, the first biomass contract was a joint venture- neither company had the resources to take it on alone so they joined forces to get the contract- as such once it was underway to ensure the contract was fulfilled some Stobarts did Jenkinsons jobs and vica versa. no great mystery, or tin foil paranoia needed, nothing more than simply day to day business

My lad who is based at Chelford on biomass for Stobart is run by a Jenkinsons planner.
