Whilst mentioning " C.G." ,…where were you , boy ■■? :unamused: :unamused:
When summat as good as last nights Slideshow is held only a few miles from your home,.............you fail to attend :unamused: ! Aye,......you were putting more ludicrous comments on the " e.s. " thread instead of viewing the " Real Hauliers" at Fletchertown. Your loss , and youll never learn .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Aye CWM Nigel gave a very good slide show last night with a good mix of photos from the 1950s up to date some quite nostalgic especially for the ■■■■■■■■■■ he even had some of Bewick’s vintage wagons to show us. Thanks also to milkmantom for organising the event as usual and the ladies for providing refreshments.

Thanks for that “BIBBS”,obviously same second name but I was on about a different bloke who was a Salesman at Scotts of Penrith and then Volvo from Carlisle and Carnforth, never bought so much as a match stalk off him,say no more ! All the best Dennis.

here’s some photo’s of Paul Wardle and his pristine E.R.F. taken when he was still driving it in the early 90’s, also some of two operators from the village of Shap G.W. Bird ( is he still going ) and T. G. Coleman ( again is he still going ).regards prattman.

Hi Bewick, I must agree with you re the Atkinson salesman that never was, I gave him an order for a six wheeler Defender ? which he didn’t process at a time when they were bad to get. On chasing up the order two months later Penrith office did not know what I was talking about, consequently I went to Fodens at Carlisle where I got exactly what I wanted and excellent service to boot as I had done for a number of years in the past. I had always fancied an Atki that being the reason for ordering one. Nigel showed a photo of an LV cabbed ERF 46G of yours G reg I think plus some others Scania etc.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

Hello prattman

Excellent photos marra

I don’t think T G Coleman or G W Bird are still on the go but the Wardle ERF LV is definitely still going strong but I don’t think Wardle’s own it anymore

They do however have a little Morris Minor van.

Kindest regards
CG

Paul Wardle’s ERF was sold about 5 years ago to Truck Plant Services of Paisley (see my photo of their ERF artic on previous page) The chassis number of Paul’s ERF and my former ERF differed by three numbers. He bought the wagon new in 1973 and ran it daily on South Wales or Midlands runs to the Central Belt of Scotland until he retired about 2003 covering well over one million miles. Not sure if it was re-engined once or twice but it finished with a Gardner 6LXB fitted. Paul uses his Morris Minor van to qualify for attending vintage lorry rallies and meet up with many of his old friends from the haulage industry.

The bloke we’er both on about L600 was an ■■■■■■■■,I wouldn’t entertain him at all,he turned up at Volvos after Scotts, how he got the job I’ll never know, anyway, the few Volvos I did buy were via Dennis Oliver and Iain Grant and Peter Charlton was the foreman at firstly Carnforth and then Morcambe when Volvo Truck and Bus took over.Dennis and Peter were both from Haydon Bridge way and were origional Taits men, both of them great lads.Granty was the service manager at Carlisle,he could be a bit brusque at times but boy could he make them jump !! no nonsense with Granty! :unamused: Cheers Bewick.
