For all those international and Middle East drivers who remembers
CSAD? They ran 6x4 F89s with tilts and fridges.
.
Well a couple of days ago whilst coming of the M3 into Sandhurst I saw a CSAD going down the slip on the M3, not unusual you may think, however across the entire side of the fridge 12 meters long was an image of a 1970s Volvo F89 6x4 in the old CSAD livery with a yellow tilt trailer., yes the same as we saw all those years ago.
.
Shame I couldn’t get a piccky.

I remember them. And before that, do you remember their Skoda units, the air-brake tanks of which used to chuff continually as they drove along?
Brilliant, your picky with the yellow tilt is much the same as image on the side of the fridge, it may have been a spread axle, I don’t remember the Skodas though.

Used to see a fair number of the Skoda /Liaz 760s on the A2 in the 1960s and 1970s. There is one about 8 minutes into this video. (A2 TRAFFIC DEMONSTRATION) - British Pathé
Memories fade with age however when prompted sometimes snippets awake, I do now recall the Liaz trucks IIRC CSAD cleared customs at Lenham Storage, As Prior to driving continental I worked for a Kent firm, as a new driver I got all the s—t multi drops
Lenham Storage was a regular drop.

Maybe the yearn to drive abroad was born from seeing the foreigners at Lenham, I got my Group 1 around 1974, hence didn’t drive along the A2/A20 in the 60s
.
The beginning of the film I am sure was at the top of the A2 up near Falconwood, roundabout, many a day stuck in traffic trying to get to the Blackwall tunnel. Happy days🚛
The Skoda lorries were more in the late '60s. You’d see them running through Canterbury to Dover before the bypass was built. Most of them were drawbar outfits and slow. The Liaz ones you mention came a tad later.
It may be too late now but did you have a dash cam in your vehicle?
What with the loop in the data it doesn’t hold on to images for too long and automatically deletes it.
Dover, late '60s or early '70s if those Csad Skodas and that East Kent AEC reliance are anything to go by!
