Come on, guys… I am a widower so the only sport I get is watching curryfart get shot down in flames… I find it amazing that you haven’t torn him a new [zb], Rob… having seen you drive forwards into many (myself included) I am slightly concerned that you agree with him…
You mean like how the RAF was shot down in flames during the Battle of Britain. At least that’s what Goering thought anyway
Gearbox probably blew up after being block changed down from 5th to 1’st But seriously it’s a bit sick/out of order posting that type of video though .

This is what you and Mark are like when you see a post from you-know-who:

Crappy air cooled Honda engine that seized at 90mph actually…
hope this one makes you laugh, i lent my car to my mum so she could nip to the bank, she drove out the yard engine screaming its head of. came back ten mins later and said “don’t like that auto gearbox” she went a little red when i pointed out its a six speed manual.
i think it’s pretty obvious whats happened here, can you imagine what sort of state you’d be in after being trapped in a passenger seat listening to rob tell you all about his career in haulage for two hours plus? “did i tell you about the time i was doing heavy” most would be suicidal, perhaps this poor bugger after several failed attempts to ring the samaritans just drove back in a daze, muttering “just let me get home, just let me get home, just let me get home” not realising that high piched scream was in fact the engine stuck in second gear?
Snudger:
Also anyone know the typical mpg (or is it gpm?) of those waste disposal HGVs on urban work, which always seem to me to be revving their nuts off at speeds of up to 20mph before braking again?
4mpg I get out of mine mainly due to having a Pto continuously running all the hydraulics and stopping and starting every few metres
Blimey, I spose that’s par for the course, thanks for the info. I now wonder if anyone gets a higher consumption figure (sits back in anticipation) and what a tank (the armoured vehicle) can get - that’s got to be gpm normally. P.S. Just checked on the M1 (Abrams not motorway for a change) and it is getting on for 1 mpg operationally. Surely they could do better on road, though that is definitely one form of transport where mpg is not uppermost, though having said that, if Tiger tanks had not been so thirsty they might have been even more effective in WW2. I digress.

This’ll probably be proven wrong but I was told that the Thorneycroft Mighty Antar (petrol engine version) would only do about 1.5mpg…

Never drove the petrol version, but the diseasel version I used to drive averaged about 2mpg (not surprising with a heavy footed 17 yr old driving it I suppose). Was told that the petrol ones did about 2 gallons to the mile though.
