Here you go Radders! Sorry about the picture quality

Early morning in Carisio & some git cut Billys fuel pipes coz he left his air con running overnight.
The lad in the centre was called Marmite but cannot remember who he was on for!

Late Sunday night after leaving the Pub at Bourg at 10pm & Colin looses an injector pipe at Belley :unamused:
The only time i ever got me camera out whilst on McKellars was when someone broke down
about 3 times a week then!

Aah, Colin Clift… What a brilliant guy this bloke is. I first encountered him on the old road from Frejus to Turin where we had an Ashline Trucking Mercedes twin steer towing a clutchless Scania 142 to Novara, but the Numpty in the Merc (Not me! I was in the 142) has ran out of diesel! (We had towed it all the way from Valence in France, over Mont Genevre and into Italy like that! with a tilt as well!-All because Colin Jarrat (The boss) knew Aldo the fitter in Novara and thought it would be cheaper to get it fixed in Italy)
Anyway, the local police turned up doing their pieces and Clifty who had stopped to help, calmed him down, found some more diesel, bled the Merc, then had to tow start it and then followed us to Turin services to make sure were ok. I then sat in his cab with him for an hour drinking coffee before he cracked on (The next day was a national holiday and therefore lorry ban) to make his customs point. I got to know him better a few years later when I was doing Ferry’s work and always had time to stop and have a chat with him. I doubt if you’d get that kind of help these days. :frowning:

Wow! The last time I saw or heard of Colin ( The Immingham Terror )was when him and Johnnie Morris left MAT Transport., to try their hands at doing Middle East work. This was about 1979 I think. Alas it never turned out too well for them I understand, I did once bump into Johnnie Morris, he was on for Geof Gilbert then. If you do see Colin again please give him my regards and ask him to PM me. That photo with the Ferry Frightening cab up, was that my old friend Billy Moore’s ■■
Cheers, Archie.

MARMITE if i remember properley was Martin Jordon, Keith (the thief) Jordon’s brother aint heard their name’s mentioned for year’s now last i heard of Marmite he had been drugged and robbed in the eastern bloc somewhere by a gang of bandit’s summit like that.

Heard a couple of fellas on the superfast talking about a bloke called Marmite who was living in Greece about 2 years ago, can’t be many with that nickname!
The Ferry freighting motor was Billys motor, he’s the one on the engine trying to smile!

Any more old Mckellar photos to share crack on?

I would have said looking at the trailer sides and the metal mudguards visible in the background that it could be a Bulgarian or Turkish trailer, certainly the two men sitting down look to be from that neck of the woods.

I thought Bulgarian when I saw the picture, looks like one of the old Somat trailers, although the colour scheme is similar to CSAD, who were from Checko, whatever, that jacket is deffo from east of the Iron Curtain (hope that isn’t your Dad wearing it Boatchaser   )
